On Thursday afternoon John Jackson (acrochicken on here) called me from Texas and told me Congratulations. I didnt know what he was congratulating me for at first. Then he told me "Dude you car made cover of STREET RODDER". I was blown away! I knew it was going to be in there, but I sure as hell didnt know it was going to be cover. So the quest begain....to find a new issue in the stores. So that afternoon I jumped in my truck and went to a WalMart, 3 different malls, 2 grocery stores, and 2 auto parts stores. NOBODY had it! Finally yesterday, I found a store that had it. So you know I had to buy every one of them they had, turns out it was 6 copies. All the folks wanted an issue grandparents, parents, you know how it goes! Well here is what it looks like....

Congratulations, making the cover is really special, I'll try to find a copy this weekend. The before photo looks like a great car to start with, not the typical starting point for most builds. I know some restorers would be somewhat let down, but my question is about the leftovers. Were you able to recoupe a good amount of the cars cost selling the unwanted stock parts?

  19. When I got the issue I thought "nice car", fits what I call the "New Traditionalist" style and wondered if it was a HAMB member.
having been a magazine editor I can tell you that making the cover is the Holy Grail - remember only 12 cars per year (give or take with multi car shots) for any given mag, and Street Rodder might be the toughest one to get (aside from Rodders Journal)
    Nice Job!

Street Rodder has had back to back issues with HAMB members cars on the cover. I guess the "traditional" look is in. Nice car sinticket. That is a great photo on the cover.

Hell yeah!!! That car looks great!!! Some of the guys I know were bummed about cutting up such a nice original car to start with, but I told them to screw off they can do whatever they want with their own cars. You just turned a nice old car into something that is still very nice but now you can keep up on the highways and really get out and enjoy it. I'm stoked for you!!!! Not to mention that it is now way cooler than a stock model A at least in my eyes and probably 99.9% of the rest of the guys here.
