Thanks. But no, I don't think it would. 4 inches would make the truck look really long. Just not right. The proportions would be way off. We have changed our minds a little bit. Once I have it on the road and driving, we will do a photoshop of it and see what looks right. I may not even chop it at all. Hard to say...
Great truck, I dig the way that thing sits and the proportions are nice. I vote no chop, run it just like it is.
Same, why make it look like all the other over chopped pickups and coupes,it does look good as is. JW
If you didn't already have the hood I'd say go without and get her running but seein how you already have one I'd say run it..My 2 cents worth. yruhot..........doug
Thanks guys. Just reconfirming the beliefs so far here a the shop. Going to take it to viva before I even worry about that part. Then I will post some photoshops of it chopped. More progress soon.
here are some much needed progress photos. Shop has been busy as hell as of recent. My 86 4 door dually chevy decided everything would start leaking after putting the cummins and 5 speed in it, got to repair it from the wreck as well, got a ton done on the 51 merc etc etc etc and I still have only 12 days to go till I have to start driving to vegas. So here are some shots as of today. baffles for the lake pipes here you can see the halogen replacements from MAC's. now to get a lense 48 chevy taillights started on the seat outside for the first time in a long time Driveshaft got built yesterday as well. I have all the components for the brakes rebuilt. Got to get the drums turned today. Have new wheel bearings for the front too. going to tear it down to finish the frame next week. Got to sand it all smooth. While it is apart, the spindles will be reamed for the new kingpins. I have already built the wiring harness, so it will be time to install that soon as well. Driving very soon!
Your truck is looking great and coming on nicely. I think the top looks good as it is on your rig. I chopped my 31 4 inches here is a pic so you know what it would look like.
we have this torn all the way down to the frame doing the finish work. nOt sure we will paint it as we had originally planned. We shall see what time does. 7 days till we drive it to vegas. The top of the frame is all finish sanded and the bottom is finish welded just needs sanded. Then I have to angle the frame where the pedal is to compensate for the pedal and to make it straight. After that, we are adding fuel lines, fuel pump, brake lines, battery and wiring. Should be driving by the end of the weekend!
drove it for the first time today! Just around the yard. Found a few leaks and the braks need adjusted better. But all in all, great test drive! I will post more pix soon.
and before anyone asks, this thing was built for different tires. So it is lower in the rear. I have a set of steel 16 wheels for it. They are due for some 5.50's in the front and some 8.50's in the rear. But money is holding me to the radials I already have. Life sucks. Then you build a truck with left overs....
a friend of mine took this at the Viva Las Vegas show. I have since replaced the missing cause I broke it on the last day before we load it up and head to vegas tail light lense.
we had some mild fog. So that is why she has some surface rust. Honestly, the stuff wipes right off it is so thin. Fixed a few brake issues and got it tuned better. Shifts great through all 4 gears and is faster than ever, Stops better than ever too...
HA AH! If I end up not selling it, then I will. But again, black on black on black is the only way she will be!
this is pretty cool I think! Jsut goes to show it was actually there at viva! I was never cool enough to take a photo. Glad someone did it for me! http://blogs.hotrod.com/viva-las-ve...2013_rock-a-billy_car_show_337/#axzz2Qh40VwcL
