Yeah man, Josh's 32 is BAD ASS in every sense! Mine won't have 800 hp, but it'll have way more than it will need far as i'm concerned. Just gotta get it under the hood if i can.
My rear wheels may be the same as what he has. Mine are 15x10's...be nice to find the fronts without paying 1500 bux though...

I'd LOVE to make the trip, but, just aint gonna happen, this time anyway.
    Bet it'd be a blast too :)

    Andy, thanks man!
And no problem on the pics, when you have time send em not a problem. I'm a couple weeks off from the deck lid anyway.

Thanks for the link, VERY COOL! Lots of nice detailed shots.
Yeah, i'm not concerned who don't like it. They can build thiers any way they would like :)
I was raised on sbc's, it's a natural for me.
Indecently, the small block was actually the second choice for this car. I had originally planned to run a 409 i have in it, but built a 62 Impala and it now lives there. I'm not changing that car now, too much went into making it what it is, so, the 32 get's the 327.

Here's a pic of my blower set up setting on my buddy's mill. It's an original GMC that was redone by Danakas way back when..Just wish it wasn't polished.

Here's a shot of those "dies", cut the slots first, line em up and knock em out! Note: I left the edges nice and sharp to slice my fingers every time I use them.

Ya know, for some reason I kinda expected you to be using something like that. I bet that doubles as 3 other tools too huh? :D

What ever gets that job done!

You're right, it's been a LONG time coming. I'm SO glad i ended up keeping this car, i'd have regretted it for sure.

Andy, thanks man. Thats about as basic as it get's, which is perfect for my small mind..Now i can go about trying to ruin my deck lid! :D:D

    Thanks feller's.

    Thank you! :)

Tonight just tackled the lower section of the B pillars on the inside. The structure part of them. I had it all braced so nothing moved, but never finished rebuilding them til now. No pics, it's boring stuff....

Andy, quick question. Do you have a general measurement for the early curved louvers for the die set? Like width and height at the center?
Or anyone for that matter? I want to make the dies, but i'd like them to be as close to the early style as i can get.
    Thanks..

Tony, I cut the slots 3" wide, the male die is just barely shy of 3". The female die should be made to that the male one is a bit sloppy. The male die does the forming, the female side just keeps the outer perimiter in place. As far as depth goes, you'll have to experiment on a piece of scrap before stamping the lid to get the feel for it. I tried using shims in the bottom of the female die to set the depth, but found it just works better to eyeball it as you're punching them. Good luck, let us know how you make out.

Thanks Andy..Have yet to make the die's yet, still plugging away on the main body. but will soon.

Havn't posted lately cause i'm doing boring shit at the moment.
The wood in my B pillars was wasted, and rather than spend 400 bux on new one's only to have to cut them for the chop, i decided to use metal instead.
I will still use wood everywhere else it's supposed to be though.
Took some 16ga tin and made filler pieces that slid just inside the original pillar. (where the wood originally was)
Basically, just did a "step box" thing with it for lack of a better way to describe.
I left the dove tail area open, and will make a panel to screw in place to make it flat all the way up. Did that because i didn't want to make cage nuts for them, plus the added bends made it real strong rather than a straight piece from top to bottom...
The outer skin that was normally tacked through the A pillar steel to the wood, is now welded.
Also, the step box thing will also give me a place to put tack strips for interior to attach to...if i ever get around to it. Just glue the strips in the recess.
Also attacked the perforated panel between the deck lid opening and roof.
Again, nothing exciting, just cut out the shitty stuff, and weld in new.
Aside from doing the same to the pass side, and a couple small items, the body is about ready for etch primer...finally.

See, like i said, boring. :)

Tony, you're making this look too easy! I'm in the garage, staring at my car. I just took all the wood out, with the exception of the B Pillar portion, of which I planned on doing the exact same thing you did.

Is the wood around the windows primarily for tacking upholstery to, or does it provide some sort of necessary structure to the body? Meaning, if I don't have to buy the $2000+/- worth of wood, I'm not going to (for now). For now, I don't plan on having much of an interior for a while. Down the road, I can add wood and upholster as required.

Thanks guys..did more tonight, but still the boring stuff.
Actually it should be ready for primer in a couple days. IAs much as i love seeing it in bare tin 'cause my last one was glass, i WANT to get it sealed up asap. I did take a pic of one area i cleaned up for primer.
Then i think i'm going to make my louver dies and get at the deck lid.

34hemipu, i know exactly what ya mean. She's with me ALL the time..only mine is 107 lbs..haha
Only problem i have is she dosent understand why she can't get in this one yet..She's always trying to get in when the door is open. :)

Mine used the 52 Chevy pu in my avatar as her rolling bed. :)
She's only 2, so hopefully i'll have her around for another 11 years too :D.

And thanks for the good luck, i'm gonna need it!
    Brady, THANKS!!

Slepe sorry i didn't respond. Somehow i missed it.
The wood is, i am assuming, for both. Attaching the interior and structure.
Even though it's only tacked in, it does make it a lot more rigid.
If your's is wasted, i'd start looking for used stuff if you don't want to buy new.
Thats what i've been doing and there is more out there than you may think.
If i turn up extra's, i'll let ya know. :)

NO problem man..Like i said i'll keep an eye out for ya :)

    Thanks!

Got the rest of the main body cleaned up and ready to prime, and knocked out most of the small dings and dents so i have less finish work later.
Still gotta dress the welds on the lower doors, then i can clean them up too.

I get a kick outta comparing the pics as i go along. It's easy to forget where we started with at times..
No more rot! WOO HOO! lol

what are you using to "polish" your steel?

Dude, this thing looks incredible as it sits. I CAN NOT WAIT to see it finished. You keep building, I'll keep learning!
