Chris, Considering I'm not overly familier with rodding a flattie, I was wondering if you think you're you'll be making anywhere near 200 HP with this set-up? Regardless of that, I'm sure it'll have more than enough beans to shove that little '34 up the road!
Mark It shoud have 160-170 HP. Stock flatheads of this vintage are 100 HP. Just by adding a 2nd carb and a hotter cam should do the HP I mentioned.
Hello HAMB Folks As you can see in the photos below, we have started the rear ch***is layout with four link and panhard. The 9" rear end was delivered this week.
Or how about the youtube of "the drunk in the back of the truck". LOL I thought it was going to be Breeder. ha ha ha
Hello Everyone In this installment the louvers have been punched in the tail gate, 4 rows of 6. After laying the front axle, front ch***is, stretched cab, box and rear axle inline on the ch***is table we've determined the wheel base needs to be 130". Because the wheel base is so long, we have decided to completely redo the ch***is with 2' x 5" rectangular tube stock instead of 2" x 4" tube. Here you can see the front section of the ch***is with the cross member. In the other photos you will see the new center section and the Z'd rear section.
Made some progress on the new ch***is layout. Still have some home work to do on the front suspension.
Hello Everyone, I know it been awhile but, things are moving along on the ch***is. As you can see in the photos below, the ch***is is finally welded together. The axle tube brackets are tack welded and the four bar links tubes are installed into the back of the up tubes. The inside of the link pockets are boxed.
These photo's show the shock mockups in place and pan hard in place. From the top view you can see, the panhard bar needs to be shortened. As the panhard raises, it comes very close to the ch***is. Additionally, it hits the differential so, a bend will allow for clearance. You can see that ch***is and the axle brackets have multiple bung holes for maximum adjustability.
Thanks Guys, In addition to the ch***is & suspension the engine is in position to start the mock up the engine mounts. As you can see the transmission cross member is in and tack welded to help support the rear of the engine. You can see in one photo how the body is going to be finished were it meets the ch***is.
Cool I couldnt really tell. Nice build. Im gathering ideas and parts now to get started on mine in a few weeks.
This is a very nice build!!!! some day I wanna build something like this!!! Great job.... where in chicago are you located?
Just curious, why 14 gauge for the bedsides? Isnt that a little on the heavy and extra thick side? Are you planning on carrying loads in this?
Over the past couple of weeks work on the cross members has progressed. Tube has been cut, bent and fitted.
