Driver side quarter is real nice. I replaced the passenger quarter with a good one I got with the car. Clark
Clark, That is some crazy nice work!!!!!!! OMG! I have a roadster but now I have to find a rough 5W and have you do the same for me!!!!! You're ultra talented man!!!!!! I'm stoked 4 you man!
1 1/4 " you must be gettin' old or just trying to keep the mud out of your big grin !! are ya workin' 7 days a week ? on wheels for next week ?
Kevin....thanks!!! Redz..workin whenever I can. No ...I wasn't invited. The 1 1/4 was actually realigning holes. There is three holes that hold the frame together. I just made the bottom hole the top one. with the windshield laid back not much chop was needed. Clark
Skid...I'll be making the windshield stanchions. Bent some 1/8 steel today. That's the good axle on my car. The bent axle isn't chrome. Clark
Clark, I just looked at a '37 Truck tonight, how much was taken out of your grille to make it look so right? Bob
Clark you have some amazing talent. Love what your doing and your making me second guess a 5/window body I have into a coupster decision. This thread is hot, keep it going!!!!
37kid....I think it was about 4 inches. Plus an inch or two out of the height. Sorta just went with what looked right. I did it last year and forget what exactly I did. Clark
Clark, is that a '34 Ford roadster w/s frame, or some rare extrusions that you formed? I am having trouble framing my '27 roadster w/s glass...
Not my 33, I have another body thats a rough 34 5/window body but I don't think I could cut it all the way. Someday I will get a roadster, but it is tempting!!!
Probably my favorite car of all time, with or without a roof. Great job, looking forward to seeing this completed.
Atwater Mike....just a stock windshield frame. We did a 27 a while back and used a mid 20's Chevy frame and posts. They sorta looked like Ford stuff but needed modified. Clark
No invitational...not sure when it will be done. Would love Cumberland but it's taking a lot longer than I wanted....but I'm putting more into it! Clark
Clark You are sick! How can I catch this sickness.. Hey I got something you want pm me we should make a trade.
Finished my windshield posts today. Made them from some 1/8 " plate and the top of some junk model A posts. Will post more pics of how I did them later. Even put the lip for the gasket in.
Here's part of what I did to make the stanchions...first had to make a jig for the press to bend the 1/8 " plate. Should have made the jig a little stronger. Here's the bent steel cut and bent ready to weld. I cheated on the lip for the seal....used some T bar. I got too involved when I started welding and grinding and didn't get any pics. Clark
love that windshield frame. i'd love a detailed lesson when you have time to post it. i think i could adapt it to my T roadster.
general...sorry I don't have more details. The plate the posts are welded to can be seen in earlier pics. Once the post was welded on, there was a lot of welding to build up the shape. It took 3 times of welding and grinding to get it all filled in. Clark
