Well I guess this is the start. I'll probably be making very slow progress but I thought I would post anyway.

The "new" frame (sort of). I can't wait to dive in. :D

A pile of iron and a welder is a good place to start. Slow or not just keep posting.

Well I got a little bit done over the last 2 nights, I just finished up my frame table/jig "legs" (aka sawhorses) and got my steel off the ground. now I just have to convince some people to get some stuff out of the shop so I can set up. slow and steady right?

I got a little bit done tonight. I got my rails tapered, I'll weld the fillers in on the weekend. and I built some stands that "rest" on my frame table. I'll use them for welding up my 9" after find one, and I cut it down. and I'm sure I'll find other uses for them at some point. oh and I brought my front cross member to the shop too. I'll see how much me and my buddy can get done on the weekend. it's starting to get hard to sleep at night :)

I don't like the grill. JK, keep at it.

Budd, the wheels are so you can rotate the piece without it rolling away or towards you when welding.

You'er right chopped51 it needs about 3.5" off the top (it's stock right now).

  11. 3.5 is a start. How about 5" ??
You plan on leaning the pillars or stretching the roof?

5" might be a little much with the way the windsheild comes up in the center. plus it will have a 4" channel. I'll see how much chop I can get away with once I get the cab on the frame, get a floor in it, and mount a seat. I'm undecided whether I'll be leaning the posts or stretching. I guess I will cross that bridge once I get to it.

  13. Yes if your doing a 4" channel that might be cuttung it a bit tight. It will come down to seat choice and your size.
I always say if your chopping you may as well go for broke. 7" on my car and 5" on the truck. Still a lot of head room in the truck and I'm 6'5".... but I never channeled it.

Here is a shot of what me and a buddy got done on Saturday. everything is cut and capped. Another full day and I'll have a full perimeter frame. Then I'll be onto mounting the engine and ****** as well as mocking up the cab to start the channel.

Went to a swap meet this morning and scored an original "Canadian" Vega steering box. Then on the way back I pulled a 9" with a limited slip at the wreckers. Its been a good day. looking to pick up a rear 4 bar next week and start on mounting the cab motor/trans and rearend.

I picked up my rear 4 bar, brake booster, and my buddy gave me a wishbone to split. I also ordered my wheels from Jason at Early Wheel/Bear Metal Kustoms today. Thanks again Jason. Now i'm just waiting on my magnum 5" drop axle and I'll be in serious business. I can see some late nights ahead.

Got a little more done today. Trimmed and set the cab on the frame and mounted the motor and trans. Going to narrow the rear end tomorrow and order up some new axles on Monday. Next round I should have the 4 bar and rear end mounted :D. Heres a pic, cause I know we all love the pics.

Got the rear end narrowed today. Hopefully have some new axles within a couple weeks. By then if all goes well, I might have a roller.

Things have been going pretty well just waiting on parts, but there is still plenty to do with what I've got so far. Got my cab and doors blasted and now I can realy see what I have to work with. Got the rearend mounted and coilover crossmember in yesterday, did a bunch of grinding and now I'm ready to start on the cab floor. Also got my bigs and littles in (600/750) and my wheels (thanks again Jason). on to the pics. :D

That is a pro welder trick that is often used by guys who do sanitary welding on stainless tubing. Makes it easy to lay a really nice bead on round tube.

I like where this is going R.S.S. It looks like you have a serious plan going on there.

That bed looks a lot better than the one I'm starting with. Good score, I like your build man.
