Ron, very nice, wish I had a dozen '40 Dodge truck cabs laying around cuz I think you just drove the prices up! Now figure out what coupe or truck body would look nice with a '33 Willys nose and I will dive in another project!
    Maybe start with this!

Thanks, its nice to know that i am not the only one that thinks its going together pretty good and should look right:cool:

73 RR that sedan is a car I built for my brother around 1985 and its now in primer getting ready for a new paint job.(old paint lasted 25 years)
its a 32 plymouth 4 dr sedan with a 33 front clip on it, couldn't find any 32 stuff way back when I built it.
it has a 360/727 and mopar 8 3/4 rearend, its been a great driver for him

brigrat, I have a friend that make fiberglass parts and he said maybe we should pull a mold off the frontend when I get it done:D:eek:

niceguyede, sorry about all the pics:eek:

Nitro Marty, Thanks, yeah there is a bunch of slicing and dicing.
but I really wanted the willys nose on it so I will just work through any issues that come up:D Ron....

  5. Are you planning to replicate the Willys style beads through the doors and around the back of the cab? The reason I ask is that I have a pair of old Thames 1/2 ton cabs that I thought would be great candidates for this same type of modification. Was wondering if anyone had tried it or was planning to.

Thanks OBG, I knew it was going to be a big job to pull off the hood matting up with the body  and I hate mat and resin work, I work better with metal.
but its slowly coming around:cool: Ron...

  12. Good to see an update on this, I've been slacking on mine to say the least. I did pull it out of the garage last weekend though.

  13. Thanks,
Its a 46 Ford + 39 Studebaker Commander front end.

It was driving, but the motor ate the cam. I have another one to put together for it. I just need to get on it.

I have the hood and sides for it, I need to adapt them for the Ford cowl. The eggcrate grills are from a 40, I got some better 39 ones I'm replacing them with. They are more like Zephyr grills.

Can I send my two trucks out to you? You can keep one of them if you send the other one back to me looking like yours looks now. No need to install the willys front end either, I'll let you have the one off killer looking dodge:D.
Awsume work Ron, I'm a subcriber so keep me up to date.

wow! i thought i was the only one that did this kind of stuff. i just came across your post today. i don't mean to hijack it but, i had the same idea with a '50 chevy truck cab and a vw body to make a '41 willys pick up out of it. i built it in 1/25th scale first to see if it would work.

i found the same problem with the front needing to be widened. which seemed strange to me, the vw body is wider than a '41 willys at the cowl.
the reason i got on this idea was because i got a '50 chevy truck roof laying around and a baja bug shell which will be perfect.
i also have a '33 willys pick up with 2 front ends and thought i would see if one of them would fit a vw too.

i found that the '33 would be easier to just narrow the cowl of the vw body so the front would fit. i just find it strange the vw is wider.
anyway, i know these are just models but, the build is the same.
oh yea, yours looks just great!!

got some more work done on this project:D

I set the engine and trans in for the first time and moved it around so the steering ,firewall, headers and radiator will all work together.

my $50. swapmeet fenderwell headers fit perfect.:D

I am in the process of making a front engine plate and I have a mid engine plate to go in as well..

the radiator fits right between the frame rails prefect too:)

I am very happy the way it is going together, you can remove the headers easy, you can get at the spark plugs easy.
I cant wait to make passes with it. Ron...

I cut and narrowed the rear fender to fit the tire better and cut out the bed to fit down over the tire and finished up the engine plate

started making a hood scoop for the race truck, I made a cardboard one the other day and today I used the cardboard for patterns and welded it together out of a dodge dakota bed side(recycling metal) it even had the start of the curve that I needed for it :D
I still have to make a lip around the opening but at least its started. Ron...
