Sorry james for the late reply,:D
The engine is out, body is un bolted just waiting to be lifted but you can't rush these things...... sold an engine i had from another project so the 49 gets a much needed cash injection, so i bought some new wide whites, i have got a full suspension re-build kit for the front end and all the leaver arm shocks are getting re-buit as we speak.
Thanks for letting me know about that guy with the caddy stuff he seams like a good bloke and he is sending me some pics to work something out
    catch ya my man....
    cheers darren

  4. Hi Darren

    Good to see another update.

Just wondering if you are using your standard/original wheels with the scarebird kit? I was thinking of one for my Caddy however was told that the original wheels will not fit once they are fitted.

    Cheers

    Cam

    Hi Cam,
I'm using the original rims, i had to grind off a small amount off the corners of the brake caliper to clear, very easy really....
    hows the caddy?

    Cheers Darren

  6. Thanks Darren, I appreciate the info. Which calipers are you using? I was really hoping that the wheels would fit - makes the conversion a lot easier!

Caddy is coming along slow,..have been buying lots of parts, waiting for the government to pop by and ask why I am importing another car one piece at a time! :)

The calipers are off a 99-02 chev astro van awd, the rotors are off a 71-76 Buick riviera, however they will prob hav a different kit to suit your caddy.
I got the calipers from summit racing in the US, the rotors I got locally.
Yeah I've been shopping flat out aswell, pretty much got everything I need to finish the chassis and suspension.

    Good luck buddy

  8. Thanks Darren, thats great. Loving the $ at the moment! :)

eBay comes up with the goods.
One side quickly cleaned up, very happy for a core to get re-chromed. ImageUploadedByTJJ1361606804.591366.jpg

    Just a small update,
I got the stock rims sand blasted and painted in 2pak, i wanted gloss black but they were sprayed satin black instead there stuff up, but i guess i will live with it for now. I got my New Rolling stock fitted BFG silvertowns 670-15.
It will lay idle for a few weeks then its heading off to get the rear floor section, tunnel and chassis notch done.

    Tuff crowd haha
A young family and another due in 11 weeks slows the build down a fair bit..
    But still keen as ever.

What are the tires on the front in post #75?
I'm looking for something big and fat with not much for raised detail. I want to smooth out the sidewalls for my nascar build.

A old bloke next door to work who is a aircraft engineer is going to rebuild the water pump, he's a good guy he fully reconditioned all my lever arm shocks king pins for nothing I just go the parts. He is also going to rebuild the carb, fuel pump as well. All he asks is me to have a chat every so often and help him with bits for a boat he's restoring, there really are some decent people still around...
