It's a survivor though and I'm in no rush to cut it up. When the time comes and I just can't stand it any longer.... I'd like to chop it like the Sam barris '50.
The visor and skirts came in yesterday. The visor is at a friends shop to get smoothed out and primed. Should be out in a week or so. Hopefully... The skirts are another story. I knew they were fiberglass repops but im kinda disappointed. First of all the packaging said made in china then the skirts themselves said made in mexico, WTF???? The fiberglass was a decent fit but the clips/brackets that supposedly hold them in place are a complete joke. I'm probably gonna end up ditching them or making something from scratch to hold them in place securely. You know it can't always be hard work in the shop or it ain't fun. We're sittin around drinkin beer talkin shit about putting a hood ornament on my buddy's brand new truck. He said "I want me, all in chrome... on the hood like this" (did this awkward pose) So I came up with this masterpiece haha We also Refinished this 14 And Started on some bar stools
PDL,i'm telling you:it is yours car... You did a highscore on visor with brackets but please put those plasticpieceofashitskirts under a stone out in the wood, but once again:it is yours car... Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Haha! Don't worry Jock, I wouldn't shame the ol girl with some foreign fiberglass. I'm gonna stash em in a dark corner and keep an eye out for some OE skirts. It'll be worth the effort... Just like the visor.
Bustin ass this week to get this thing ready for LSRU... new door glass, new weather strip/ felt strip, glass channels, and reworked the window regulators in both doors. I also tried my hand at upholstery by making two new door panels. Get ready for some pics.... Old glass Rusted out glass channel All better
Started on the panels by carefully peeling the fabric off the old water damaged door panels. Made new panels Glued some padding down The old shit That's a wrap
I just want to say great job so far. Your car is turning out awesome. The 1950 Buick sedanette is my dream car.
Thanks I appreciate the compliment. it's my dream car as well. I saw one years ago and I had to have one. hands down the best looking car out of the early 50's. No matter how you tilt your head lookin at it you can't find a bad angle.
Nice pics! That phrase always cracks me up. Anyone that's seen the size of these cars in person knows there's nothing "-ette" about them
The visor turned out great. Should be at the lone star roundup tomorrow. It rained the whole way here and I found out the hard way she is not waterproof. The floorboards and trunk were soaked.
What a beautiful car that 50 is. You have a great canvas to work from. I never really paid a whole lot of attention to any 50's vehicles but as I get older I appreciate the nice lines they had back then. Good luck!
Thanks fellas. The show kicked ass! So many badass rides and I met alot of really cool people. Saw one other 50 but unfortunately never met the owner
Nice PraiseD, very, very nice. Just perused your whole thread, some nice work you did. Very tasteful. Watchin!!!
Thank you! I took a ton of car pics at the show but these were my favorite. I think all of you could appreciate these
