  1. Just wanted to show my ride.it's a 1951,4 door.so far it's got frenched headlights, shaved taillights, back doors, and emblems.39 Ford tail lights.I did the dash and roof red metal flake.Mexican blanket on the front seat, because it's bad.I always wanted one growing up.I grew up in so cal.my step dad has been building cars for years.he has worked with guys like Billy Hines, gene Winfield, and George Barris r.I.p. so I drive it daily.about a month ago the old 235 threw a rod.and this past weekend I put a 250 in it,with a 3 speed.but went with a floor shifter instead of three on the tree.it's converted to 12 volt.plans are to chop it.but for now just enjoying it.gotta get a open rear end and driveline to have her going again.but plan on doing that this weekend.but anywayd, just wanted to show her off.more pics to follow.thnx

Where did you get the floor shifter from? How long have you had her? What rear end are you going with?

That brings back memories, my first car was a 49 business coupe and the interior looked just like that, for years. Seeing the three on the tree reminds me of having to use a bunji cord to keep it in 3rd gear to get home once. I had swapped out the trans and rear end in the early eighties to get rid of that stock trans.

    Thanks for posting.

I like your car, thanks for posting the pics. You will like that 250,given clean oil they will run until you are tired of looking at them! What rear end did you end up using ? I too would like to see more photos of the swap.

  6. Thanks all for the replies. The floor shifter came with the motor and trans. I scored those for 200 bucks. Came out of a 63 truck. I'm trying to find a second gen camaro rear end. As I have seen its supposed to be a direct bolt in. It still has the torque tube in it. But it won't work with the newer set up. I got her last February. So I have had her a year now. And I had to swap the trans once when it had the 235 in it because of it popping out of third. I need to move the trans mount, and notch it to use the floor shifter. And the motor is solid mounted now.I will get up more pics of it all.any other rear end recommendations are welcome.

Nice Pontiac,is he going to run the straight eight in it? I like your shade tree! I wish I had one,It gets really hot here.

  14. Yes it gets hot here to.and the motor for the pontiac,I'm not sure of.it's a customers car.I think a small block though.

  15. OK so I have a few questions.I got a 2nd gen camaro rear end.I have red it's a direct bolt in.but it does not look that way to me.the brake lines look different.and the hole in the spring perch is not centered.any advice would be great.I'm stuck at this point.I will post a few pictures of what I'm talking about.first pic is the old torque tube, and second is the camaro rear.the spring and new lowering blocks will fit but the hole is off center.do i just drill a hole in the center where it is off center?the radiator is not fitting, well it firs but you cant even put your finger between it and the water pump pully.and i need motor mounts.anyone know where i can get motor mounts that will fit the frame and 250 in it?thanks. 16. I will add,it already had the side mounts for the 235 that was in it I call them top hat mounts.I will get pics up if those.and sorry for the lack of pics.but I work a lot.and don't have a lot of time.the 250 is already in and runs.the mounts already on the 250 kinda Sat on the old mounts.and I was gonna just weld them.but the fit and position of the engine just don't seem right.

  18. Yes,as stated previously the 2nd Gen rear is not a direct bolt in.so we got that welded up right. Got new motor mounts in. The only thing left. Is install the rear end.and get a driveline made.i was not able to get into my h.a.m.b account for a while. I still am working 6 days a week 12 hour days so the progress is slow goin.but I know for sure it will be done by the turkey rod run in nevember.i will get some more pics up later tonight.
