I made a spacer from 20mm aluminum, thats close 3/4" and its a lot better with that one!

    Thanks!
Yeah,i think its fine for the with my height.
    And now a little update:

I made the splitable filler panel for column hole. All the mounting is done with cagenuts. No way i am going to weld any bungs or other shit on the freshly painted firewall:

And here its mounted with the ballvalve column mount i made earlier:

I left some room for the gas pedal,if i buy a floormounted gas pedal.Too bad most of them looks like shit what i've seen.Just too streetroddish garbage.Well,i have to think what to do with the gas pedal issue.

    Thanks!
I think that panel doesnt look like special, but it took few hrs hammer/dolly work to get it done and some planishing hammering too.I guess that kind of gas pedal assembly will be the easiest way to do it.
I guess hardest thing in that job is to pick the less fugliest one.

    Thanks Kurt!
Yeah, its been a warm month in here, something like 68-80 in fahrenheits. So its not always cold like in russian hell in here..
My wish was that my summervacation will be in august, noticed at today that my employer had marked that my vacation will start at next saturday. So,i guess i'll be off the work then for awhile..

Not so sure about that! We are neighbours to Finland, and it's been really warm here the last month too, 20-30 C (70-90 F) every day and no rain. I know it's not that warm compared to your summers, but to us it's not common so early, and it makes it a lot more tempting to sit on the patio and drink beer...

Sorry for straying off topic, been following the build for a long time and happy to see progress again!

    Thanks for the link!
Looks like its nice and simply modification for the stock pedal, too bad that i dont have the original floor mounted pedal.I am not sure where pedal was from that came with the car.It looked like an original upper pedal linkage that was modified. There isnt much room for that one because of the transmission hump mod,so i guess that one is pretty useless now.
Well, beer drinking and sitting on the patio is sure tempting.Specially for us,we finns are known as heavy drinkers, just like fellow irishmen. My plan was to mess with chemicals on my vacation, but thats nothing alcohol related that i had on my mind.I'll post an update when i've got something done.

Last summer when I was wiring my '59 it was blazing hot, 95-99 F for days. Cooler in the garage than out in the heat, took a lot of pool breaks too. Last winter we had it pretty good and I was able to work in my garage with a heater going. I'll work in a t-shirt at 45 F, everyone thought I was nuts.

Hey Finn... the new pedal came from Dennis Carpenter. I cut off the "bulb" on the back of the pedal. And I just noticed that when I bought mine a year or so ago, it did not have a "hinge" at the bottom like this one, which should be even better...http://dennis-carpenter.com/accelerator-pedal/p/48-9735/

    Thanks again!
I think the pedal issue is solved.I bought one from ebay, the selling speach said thats its made in USA,but i doubt it.Shoebox-central sells the same pedal and they recommend it for shoeboxes with SBF's or SBC's.

Antti you must be getting pretty close to being able to drive your car by now?

Well,i guess its getting closer to be in driveable condition.I have to rebuild the transmission and the rear axle first.Friend who sold the 283,said that previous owner of the motor said its been rebuild lately.
I believe that kind of selling speeches when i see a huge stack of receipts of the motor..
So,the plan is to take a peek what kind of guts the motor have.I think i'll get the technical stuff done at last and mess with other things on the car first.
I am pretty sure that pedal will fit fine. The cable runs outside of the toeboard,so i think it will eliminate some of the fitting issues.

Like i stated earlier,my plan is to mess with chemicals on my vacation. So i cleaned the heater box with citric acid:

I have an another box that is in really bad condition, when comparing it to this one.Just for shit & giggles,i throw that one in the acid tank too.My plan is to sandblast that better box and take it to the powdercoater. These heaterboxes are pretty thin stuff,so i thought the sandblasting doesnt have to be rough job when the bigger craps are already off the surfaces.
I cleaned up some bike parts too,but i think i'll save you seeing them.

Citric acid works great. I have a small batch made up right now. Anything rusty takes a swim.

Yeah, its a good stuff when dealing with rust issues. There are just few buts,no aluminum parts,no cast parts and i've heard that it will ruin spring steel too?

Seems to work great cleaning stuff with acid have never tried it but like you said to clean motorcykel parts and small stuff its got to be good! We have an big ultrasonic cleaner at work also great for little parts and so!

Better yet is to use an electrolysis bath. A tablespoon or so per gallon of WASHING SODA, not to be confused with any other type soda, a little bit of salt to help conductivity, hook up your battery charger (If electronic control it won't want to get started - put on "50 amp start" till it gets going), negative connected to rusty part and positive to sacrificial steel piece, and in 12 hours all the rust will be transferred to the positive piece of metal. MAGIC...

    Electrolysis,i've heard it from somewhere..
Actually i've been working over 15 yrs in chemical industry and my job has mostly been maintence work for sodium chlorate cells. The electrolysis is the key word how those things work.Sounds fancy, but its just basic metal/assembly work for me.
I've tried the electrolysis with rusty parts,it sure works. But for me its easier to make a batch of citric acid and let the liquid to the work.

bobss396 I was outside sanding on the ford today and the thermometer on the garage was sitting on 103 degrees(in the sun) humidity was right on the edge of raining. This wont go away until about mid october .I would LOVE some 45 degree weather!Antti the heater box looks great!

Been banging off 90 all week here and the humidity is not bad, cooler by the ocean by 10*. There is a 3 hour window when my driveway is a blast furnace. I move around a big umbrella on a stand if I have to be in the sun.
