Hi Guys, here are some pics of my project. I picked it up last summer after it had sat in a friends barn yard for the last 17 years. I filled the tires with air flushed the gas tank and put in 5 gallons of premium, a new battery, and drove it the 5 miles back to my place. I'm not sure what I am going to do with it as yet. I am trying to decide between keeping the stock running gear in it , OR putting a complete new running gear in it. my thoughts were a Ford 9" rear end, keeping it on leaf springs, building a front end similar to what they run on modified or late model race cars. I can do that cheaper than most m-2 kits and I feel that it would be much more durable. Either way, I would lower it about three inches. I have a SBC that came from one of my brothers race cars. it's a strong motor but is no longer leagle to race, a new set of pistons and a different cam ... The body is pretty solid, needs a driver floor pan. as far as interior, I'm thinking recovering the existing seats and panels similar to original. I don't post much but will try to keep up to date on progress.
That looks like a great score. I'd suggest that you just drive it a few hundred miles before you decide what to do with it. It might turn out that you don't like to drive it and you can save yourself a lot of time and money by finding that out beforehand. Of course if you do like it you'll also know what you need to do as well as what you'd like to do. I didnt' listen to that advice once and ended up spending a lot on a car that everyone seemed to like but me. Love those early '50s chevies though.
