I posted an intro but I'll give a little background on the car here. I traded this for a '92 Sportster. She runs, shifts, stops (sort of, hahaha) and is generally pretty solid with just a few rust spots.

My plan is to get her rolling somewhat reliably and get the STANK out of the inside, hahaha. While driving her I'll be taking care of the rust issues and getting everything in working order. The front pans are junk but I got brand new replacements with the car so those will be done in the next few weeks. There's a dent on the rear, drivers side door as well as a decent rot hole. Aside from the floors, it's the worst of the rust on the car. The trim in that area was also a bit damamged but I think I'll be able to tap it all back straight again.

The car itself is pretty complete. All of the trim is there, the OEM Radio, although not working, is in there. The fan does come on however I have no control over it, it's either on or off. I DID get a slew of parts with the car and a fan controller was one of them. She's in desperate need of a battery but the rest of the charging system appears to be new. The PO did change out the points, wires and plugs. Planning to grab a Battery and new Cables this weekend sometime.

Today, May 15, I got a chance to take her around the neighborhood a couple times and start getting the disgusting seat covers out. I think the back was OEM and in rough shape.

It was pretty easy to strip off the fabric as it was well on it's way into decay. The "skeletons" of the seat seem to be in very good shape. None of the Springs were broken and everything appears to be there.

I threw them back in the car until I grab some heavy canvas to cover the springs with. Then the plan is a basic foam over that, then probably some batting and then some Mexican Blankets. I know it's been done to death, but I've always liked the look and it fits within my budget of "very little" hahaha.

This is my first "Cl***ic" car and I'm really looking forward to restoring her back to some of her glory. It'll be nothing compared to a lot of the other cars I've seen on this board. But it'll be fun nonetheless, and WAY cooler to tote the kids around for Ice Cream than in my modern Caddy!!

i dig it, i have always liked the 53 and 54 body lines. go through the brakes and drive the **** out of it. maybe later do some disc and a 5spd for the freeway drivin. i drive the **** out of mine, but its starting to run a bit warm this summer. i think i need to do the water dist. tube and water pump.

good luck with the new toy

Thanks, it's a really handsome car. The brakes are a bit sketchy. I noticed today that one of the rears are leaking. A rebuild kit came with the car so I'm hoping it's the right one.

There's also a leak, it looks, from the Water Pump, so that'll need to be addressed soon.

    Thanks!

Picked up a new 6V Battery the other day. Threw it in but she still sounds weak. It was raining at the time so I didn't fiddle with it too much. Finally got around to taking a peak at it today. She still wouldn't go, and the battery got a bit low trying to turn it over so we tried a jump. It still wouldn't fire. After scratching our heads, checking the plugs, checking for fuel, etc.. Before giving up I wanted to try jumping it direct to the starter. Boom, she fired. Felt good but something was definitely not right. My buddy was with me and we took it around the block. I hit the horn and there was a huge loss of power and the name meter pinned. I'm guessing a short? The wiring is certainly sketchy at best.
