Do those perches have enough room for the u-bolts to stay in place when you put movement and a load on them. From this angle it looks like it is almost on the edge. Just concerned for your safety.

The perches have a recess in them for the u bolts to sink down into. Thats a good question.. Since this setup is stock on the 53 rearend im gonna say it is safe.. The perches moved on the original rearend and I had to weld them solid after setting my pinion angle..I could always weld a small tab on the edge just to be certain the u bolts wont come out...

what I really like is that youre lowering it without bags. At least thats what it looks like! haha! Im not a hater on bags, but theres something really cool about being commited to a low stance, and it seems a bit more traditional to me. Just thinkin out loud :)

Thanks.. No bags for me on this one..As it sits in the pics, it is a little too low for the suspension to travel..Im gonna have to c notch the frame to give my tubes a few more inches of clearance. I may have to cut some off my blocks to make it all work....

I welded a brace on the bottom of frame rails to keep everything from moving during cutting and placing of c notch

This is the car without lowering blocks.. This is only the jamco 4" drop leaf springs and my modifications to the rearend perches which added another inch of lowering..The c-notch in the frame gives me a total of 3" or clearance now to the frame..Without shocks on it will not bottom out.. With the lowering blocks installed, this thing would bottom out and the pumpkin hit the floor pan....This stance is perfect for me now.. 7 inches from the ground at the back of the front fenders and 6 1/2 from the bottom of the front quarters....

Wow!! The stance is killer and just looking at that last picture I am not real sure if the chop would kill that look! Please keep us posted on a fantastic build!

Thanks.. I believe 2.5" in the front and 3" in the rear would be just enough of a chop to make this thing POP... My dad only chopped his 35 tudor sedan 2" and it made a huge difference in the look...

This is so cool! This is definately the way Ill be doing mine. Thanks a lot for the killer step by step tech. Still a totally driveable stance. I really like the fact that youre committed to the height and not going with bags. I like bags, and the detailed engineering they take to work correctly makes them a work of art in their own right. But Im just diggin the alternative to lowering blocks and cut springs. Seems kinda cheap and dirty now that I see this. Its like the smart and safe way of lowering a car. I know this is not a "new" or ground breaking discovery, but I dont hear a lot of guys going this route. Great job and perfect stance.

I personally wont be choppin my top cause I think this car lowered and unchopped looks bitchin!! This is my new wallpaper for inspiration :)

Frenching headlights..These are 54 bezels. They are longer than 53. I didnt like the grooves in the center so I filled them...
