Hello all I'm kind of new here. Joined some time ago but never posted. So my car. Bought from Texas had shipped to me in California. "Seemed" like the best deal for my budget at the time. Bought it as a "running and driving, prepped and ready for paint" car. What I got was a car that kind of started and sputtered and no brakes. As for "ready for paint" it was primered and very straight. My dream was a chopped and sectioned 54, I'll admit ever since I saw the monster garage 54. So it worked out one week I got sent home for a week from work for being one minute late multiple times. So I took advantage of the time off and began the section. What I found was body filler up to 1" thick on both sides of the car. At the time I was concerned but set on finishing the job. So the first day I disassembled the next 2 days I sectioned. The next 3 days I chopped. Drove it back to work monday. Since then I enjoyed it the way it was, working on it when I had the time. Eventually bought my first house and in the garage it went. Fully stripped the car including the enormous amount of filler an both rear quarters of the car. Turns out there was not near the amount of damage to justify the filler. Maybe a attempt at making the car appear more round? There was a not great quarter repair on the driver side. So there it sat for a few years as life took time away from the build. After some time my now ex wife totalled my weekend racer camaro leaving the drive train in the garage. The decision was made to replace the wore out smokey 235 and clutch less 3 speed with the hopped up ls1 and 6 speed was decided. So all drive train was removed and redistributed amongst friends. There it sat for a total of 5 years. A divorce and new house later it is now sitting pretty and getting some much needed love. I parted ways with a caddilac I had to get my 54 funding again. I'm in the process of building one off front suspension with sealed hub and bearings I had acquired somewhere custom spindles joined by the steering rack from my old camaro. The ls1 and t56 already mentioned. I picked up a bronco 9" and reusing the center section from my camaro, changed out the 5.14s and spool for 3.25s and a limited slip. Keeping drum brakes on the rear end. Will be airbagged to compliment the low profile. At this time my plan is a true blue or candy blue paint with white interior. I'll post pictures now, tired of typing.

Do you have more pics of the sectioning of the front fenders?

Very impressive. You make it look easy!
I can't wait to see how it flows with the rear glass in place.
Will the front wheel arches and splash pan be left as is?

Crazy cool. sectioning and chopping your car shows you have big balls. I like it.
    The car, not your balls.

I took the section out of the bottom of the wheel well and then grafted the cut radius back in to keep the original flow. 2010-10-06_19-25-57_796.jpg 2010-10-06_19-44-44_995.jpg 2010-10-06_19-27-26_913.jpg 2010-10-06_19-37-17_726.jpg 2010-10-06_21-36-15_625.jpg 2010-10-06_21-35-48_949.jpg

Thanks. I'm undecided on the splash pan. With not sectioning the front of the fender there's not a lot of room for a bumper.
