One of the most common (and not-too-difficult) custom car mods. I believe most people use the severed piece of the hood as the new filler piece on the body. Then, it's just a matter of making templates for the metal strips that will finish off the raw edges. If it was me, I'd try to make the filler piece out of a piece of "L" channel so there would be a finished return edge. You could use a shrinker/stretcher to get the curvature right.
I love the Mat Egan paint work on this '54 Ford & I would like the same paint in my '54 customline but on green color !What do you think after the photoshop by themoose ???
I think doing that would be like putting graffiti on the mona lisa.what you have now look very good.it is up to you as it is your car
I like that with the side trim, but leave the scallops off (too much of a 80's-90's look) and stick to just the panel painting!! It would look like Larry Watson himself had done it!!!!!
Had a 54(1st car) when I was in high school. Color was...........wait for it......metallic hunter green!! Lotsa fun in that little car. Yours is cleaner!! Nice 6sally6
Just read the whole thread, Greaser 35. Great read and great work. I'm starting to customize my 54 Four door also!
Sorry but I would vote no on the scallops. I think your car looks perfect the way it is. Sometimes adding more to a car just takes away from it. If you do, I would say you need to rework the trunk area. I think the lines should flow with the body and the radius should match the trunk radius. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I enjoyed this thread. We are building our first custom, a 55 Customline. A lot to learn. I like where you are going.
i have a 54 4 door customline, was my first car im highschool. i always dreamed of having my roof that color! i wanted the body black with green metal flake, that combined with the top color always struck me right
