Wow. I hope this doesn't **** my thread up. I am sure the space bar thing did enough, but this? C'mon man. Enough already. ON a side note, I will have more pix up later. I got the chrome put on and found a few spots that need worked. I also got the material to get the cutting/buffing done. So more progress the next few days. Got a parade on saturday and hopefully a couple of photos to take after so I can get it sold. We shall see.
Lookin' good! After you sell it, whats next? If I remember correctly, you had an AMC Pacer in the wings, could be wrong...
HAHAHAH!! HEll NO! Actually I will be posting in just a few days the one that is next on the chopping block. It belonged to the same guy that owned this one before I got ahold of it. A 1942 hudson. The guy he bought it from did a HELL of a job covering up his horrible work. Metal over metal, no welding, just pop rivets. Then a lot of filler. I ended up just cutting the roof off in favor of a carson top. It was going to be to mcuh to fix. Total hack job. I slammed the back door shut and the top of it fell off from the ****ty welds. Were are talking filler over cardboard here! I will post pix of it soon. Getting some more ideas for it now.
Got a bit moer done to it today. I am trying to figure out WTF to do to the grille. IT bugs me now. Always has. So after that, onto the hood.
Do you have a straight on shot of the front of the car/grill area? I may be able to Photoshop something.
Just a quickie, ( and we all love those! ) but how about a sectioned '57 Ford grill insert? The center third kinda follows the contours of the '54 pan thingy.
pan thingy? HA HA! I will try to get a pic of the front of the car today. I should have the grille on it by the end of the day. This way you can get a better idea of how it would look with the rest of the car.
So. Today I had a parade that I took the car to. Something I do every year. I have a different car every year and some people recognize that. Anyway, halfway through the parade, the damn alternator quits. I had no idea till the car died. I was playing with the switches alot showin off, and it just quit. So dead that I could not even activate the valves! Had to push it out of the parade! So embar***ing. Then, I had a guy slam something into it. I JUST got it painted. Really pissed me off.
East fix is to get rid of the bullet in the center and make a flat (conformed to grille) plate the covers the seam of the two haves. That's what I had on mine many many years ago. All the pics are on film somewhere. Just put the grille in and remove that center bullet, to test it. You'll be amazed at how much it cleans up the lines.
A little searching, I knew others have done this here's one by Foose. And one out of Austin. It's just an easy mod that looks really good.
The 54 is looking sweet!!!!!! I really like the scallops but change the color to dog **** brown ha ha ha great job shannon
Found this car on the 'net & removed the bullet, teeth and the bumper upright da kine. This may be close to what you had in mind. It really cleans up the grill yah?
Some grille designs Rik Hoving did for my former project car: http://public.fotki.com/Rikster/digital_kustomizing/commissioned-digita/1954-ford-coupe-sec/ (The car on the photo is not mine, and I sold my project to a guy that did use a completly different grille idea)
I do like that. That was what I had in mind when thinkin of changin it. Looks like that is what I will do! Thank you!
Mostly traded paint. Luckily I have not had the chance to cut/buff yet, so the guy is going to live to see anotehr day.
As a matter of fact, its not that easy... The surronding stainless trim is custom made. But with a skilled welder I suppose its possible to use trim pieces from a second '54 to build it.
You're quite welcome. This is some fun ****, I've never really tried to come up with ideas for a kustom before. You sure you don't want me to Photoshop your AMC Pacer? I had this idea after posting the first one; lose the parking lights (hide under the grill) and trim the ends so the grill appears to be floating.
