i was drivin the freeway today and my olds started cuttin out after drivin a while and it got worst and worst the farther i went so i got some lunch got back in drove fine for a while then started cuttin out again so im guessing a fuel delivery problem, so i blew out the lines so far but thats as far as i got. could anybody help me out a few things i think it is would be the gas tank vent gettin stuck, air gettin in the fuel pump, leakin fuel pump (i does leak i know that for a fact but not a whole lot),gas boiling, etc maybe vac advance? any help would really be appreciated gotta pick up a girl on friday
Sounds like a bad coil or a bad points condensor ...... If ya gotta an extra coil throw it on and take it for a spin to the parts store & buy a condensor. i'd try them first ..... Has the car been on the road long ? Has anything like this happened before ?
sounds like it could be a couple different things, i'd take a day or two and go through and fix your leaks and check your spark. my 2cents. -Anthony
its been on the road since may before that it was stored for a short time and before that it had a full engine and tranny rebuild.has a few thousand miles since rebuild if it was a bad coil and/or condenser would it be cuttin out then catchin back up like it does?Ill try that tommorow when i get some lihgt outside. thanks
so it gets worse with how hot it gets, maybe the heat is expanding a carb gasket? could be a lot of thing though.
on second thought, maybe its just overheating a bit? my buddys 53 chevy would over heat and start to run like shit and eventually die out. then he would let it cool and it would run fine. changed the therm and it fixed it.
ya i know the fuel pump is goin bad (would a rebuild do?) needs a new vac advance (i think) im gonna throw a new coil and condenser tommorow. anything else?? it didnt read it was hot, temp seemed fine could be wrong though ill keep it in mind. ill give the thermo a look-see.
