I think having a car like that as a start would be liberating... you can't screw it up, no matter what you tried with it! I agree with the popular opnion, cut that top off, turn it into a radical roaster. I'd also replace the split in the middle windshield (?), and go with a non-wrap around from something else.. maybe something from a 60's car that's laid back far.

It's a blank slate, waiting for a second chance...

I wanted to replace the WHOLE top with a 55 Ford top, but couldn't find one with the correct perspective. The door post HAS to go...............lol

  9. The b block mopar and 4 speed are kind of wack in a good way. How well was it done? I think the grill is the 57 merc grill.

I was trying to import this picture but I'll have to make it a link. Sorry to repeat myself.

Check out the valve covers and the FI.

Thanks for all the suggestions...I like cutting the whole roof off and window frame tops and a new windshield... Certainly be the easiest route... Still would like some photoshop pics...

Every once in awhile I get lucky. [IMG] I had 59 Plymouth caps on my 60 Pontiac...man they looked cool! After that, I started to notice them on cars in the old hot rod magazines. It's weird how some things from the old days are over-remembered" and other things are overlooked. [IMG]

And a link to the post about it and my photochop of my 52, ala Mermaid

Loose the hideous roof and paint over the pepto pink

  19. Good idea. Paint it flat black or flat white first so you can actually see the thing with out that nausea inducing pink warping your perceptive abilities.

Good luck. It takes a special kind of man to even consider an undertaking like this.

Definitely will get painted black.... I was thinking of getting rid of the headlight bezels and using a 59 Chevy pass car bezel.I dont know if it would fit over that or not.??? still dont know what to do about the grill..I want to use expanded metal with drawer pulls or bullets or even clear plastic inserts..Same for the rear..???maybe 59 Cad lights where the stock tailights were?? I know its over used..but its effective...Just thinking out loud..

Man, those wheels take me back to my MOPAR days!

My first car was a 76 Plymouth Fury SPORT.

Yeah, the way cool two door version. [IMG]

It had those wheels on it and some bastard actually stole them!

I was parked at the apartments we lived in, right next to the dumpster for recycling phone books.

Came out the next morning and it was sitting on stacks of phone books.

Gotta give them credit for ingenuity!

I dig the lakester in the mag pic.

That lid has you half way there!

If you need to know the ones that are on it are 66 Olds, Definitely Starfire and possibly Delta 88, don't think the 88's are the same, for your ebay ad.

That Mermaid car is the way to go! I originally bought my fuel injected 430 motor for something like that! I love that car. You should go that route. Plus, you can just lop off the top and not have to replace it. I think it would be cool. You live in California...who needs a roof?

  28. Gotta go with Mack on this one...........straight to the crusher! Compacted nice and square with a glass top might make for a neat coffee table.....build a model of a real 57 merc and put that on it. I'm sorry!

    I like the hood.

Why is it called a "cocaine window?"
