80 camaro front end and rear axle, 700r4 built, and a big block upfront. hope the 700r4 lasts! here's the pix so far, can't decide to paint it or leave it as painted by nature need to complete brake system, wiring, interior, fuel system and it should be somewhere close to road ready!!
Paint it tutone. They look great fixed up. This one is a 59 but it will give you a good idea of how good they look cherried out.
Your truck is a '59. It has a '59 front V8 emblem and the bedside trim is strictly '59 also. Here's what you should do: Carefully remove the bedside trim and send it to me. Seriously though, it looks like you've got a great start. In my opinion it has a perfect stance for these trucks. I don't like em too low or too high. Yours sits just right, I think. One more thing: PAINT IT!
I'm not into the patina look, so I'd have to paint it an original color. To me it is a scarce enough truck and in good condition to be worth the extra money and work to make it purdy!
thanks for the kind hopeful words guys..just put the 454 and 700r4 in yesterday. lots mor work til roadworthy..
i have 1959 long step side as current build, i love it, i went with 300 buick v8 and a old granny low 4 speed, its gonna be epoxy primer white till the kids graduate im sure...
If mine looked like this there is no way I would paint it. I like it as is. I wish mine were this far along.
The stock fleet side rear bumper looks awkward they mount too low and too far away from the bed. If you made some brackets they can tuck in and look a lot better. X2 on 1959, unless someone trimmed it out with some other chrome/emblems. My 58 is bare but I have a set of side chrome for it. Haven't decided if I will use it or not but its something to think about since its hard to come by. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
