well tried my hand at a little paint buffing last night... That old orange paint might just shine again.... Had to laugh, bought a Harbor Freight 6" buffer(I Know, I Know not the greatest tools ) But I didn't want to buy a expensive Makita . I figured could do any worse to the paint on the car already... The first buffer lasted about 25 minutes on the p***enger door and went ***s ups ( go figure right lol) so got another one... so will start on it again this weekend.... learning as I go ... fun !

IMG_3735.JPG Grab a couple of Meguiars #7 glaze to apply wet after the buffer work. 2-3 times and the shine will be amazing. This is 40 year old restored lacquer. 6 coats of #7 over 3 nights. Allow one coat over night.

not sure what this was painted with, but if I had to guess old lacquer for sure.. that hood looks great... going for some shine on the old girl.. there are some (well a lot were paint has chipped off 20 + year repaint maybe more) I'm wonder if anyone from the Longbeach, Ca area remembers this car rolling around in the mid to late 80's.. I know the history back to 1990... hmm curious ? anyone

Where are you getting these windshields from? I need one for my 60 olds convert and I don't think I want to order from the place you did.

the windshield are coming from Plinkington Cl***ic.. it's YRC freight system that's breaking the windshields and part shipper's poor packing... The shipping boxes aren't marked gl*** or fragile(if that would matter ) They just keep shipping them , number three is coming... I plan on contacting the manager regarding refunding my shipping charges. Since it's now going to be a month on trying to get a useable windshield..

You'd think someone in the gl*** business wud know how to pack their items and have the good, common sense to mark the container as "gl***" and "fragile." While it is out of the gl*** company's hands once it goes to the shipper, again I'd like to think they'd have the good, common sense to find another shipper if the shipper can't handle their product properly. Damn! There I go thinking again. It gets me in more trouble!!

I said this to the customer service person with this company, that why would you not mark this "fragile" or "gl***"... didn't seem that it matters to them...They just file claims with the carriers on damage and get paid. and the customer gets to wait again & again... I'm just curious if they use YRC freight the third time..

All I can say is that is one helluva way to run a business. It does nobody any good and just ticks off the customer. A great way to establish repeat business.

Thanks, my shipping freight charges are being refunded by Plinkington Cl***ic. The manager is also contacting YRC freight account rep also regarding poor handling of freight.

surprise master cylinder today ! had to replace it, thank goodness is was updated to a dual circuit style... had brake fluid on the floor and ruined the paint on the fire wall... I guess luck didn't have carpet in the car any longer... have new sill plates and carpet coming... replacement windshield should be here on 8/31... then I can clean the floors and coat them ... put some dynamat done , the replace carpet has padding . Just done know if will provide enough sound absorbing

so I received windshield #3....winner ! now just need to get it in the car... Plinkington Cl***ic, the manager actual called me... was very sorry with all the issues with the windshields and the freight company breaking the windshields.. In the end I was refunded the shipping $125.00 and the third windshield had some small scratched and was given and additional $40.00 off it.. So in the long run they did good by me ...
