My 60 Elcamino turned fenderless hot rod

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Docfranknstein, Jul 28, 2006.

  1. I'm seeing a cut-up front to match the cab and rear, which I think would be super cool (and WAY beyond my talents), but still without fenders. That would keep the front full-width to avoid the front looking thirties and, to me, ruining all the work done so far.

DAMN I wish I was that talented...

I have a windshield for the project. It is a sedan windshield that has one vertical crack in the dead center. The rest is flawless. --FREE-- Some body should set up a relay or something.

All I can say is wow. I never would have thought of something like this, or guessed it could look so cool. Can't wait to see more!

Very cool, belive it or not I had the same vission, I spent a few sleepless nites thinking about how cool it would be.

And it is cool very cool. Thanks your gona save me alot of dough.

  8. Exactly what I was thinking. Match the "fin overhang" seen in the rear up front. That '60 had some killer body lines in the front fenders - a natural place to cut.

    Keep us posted.

  12. At first, I was like why....why would someone hack up a 60 elky....but....I cannot stop looking at it and the more I look the more I like. That is one hell of a crazy and kick ass machine. Well done...can't wait to see it completed.

Reminds me of the one that John Bell designed... it was in the issue of Hop Rolls and Pleats...

I love it. I've thought about this type of build for years, but haven't had the balls to follow-through. This is definatly a genre of hot rod, Does it have a name? Maybe "Dream Rod"?

Un fucking belivable!! Ialways was thinking like a 55 chevy truck cab with an old model A cabs proportions, this gives the same look but olny way better roof and ass end. Is does suck that everyone has to compare this to that, everyones car is built like sombody elses, because it has all been done before. The only thing we can do is stay faithfull to a period and stlye and push that envelope even farther. Doc has what plowboy has and some others an eye for things, and the creative ability to pull it off out of a pile of nothing. Doc's a mad man, chop on Doc!! I can apreciate the work, just sectioning up the car for a truck bed is harder than it looks.

You should have kept it a secret until you cornered the market on those old El Camino's.
