Hey, been skulking around reading the forum for a while and finally got around to posting about my car. I'm not too good about taking pictures while I'm working, but sometimes I remember to. So, quick synopsis... 6 years ago I almost bought a black 4 door impala for $4K with the last bit of some insurance money I had, but I was unemployed at the time and lived off it instead. Which I regretted ever since as I'd still have that car, and I certainly don't have the same apartment or girlfriend I had at the time. Anyway, almost 2 years ago I saw one for $5K in white for sale, which went down to $3K by the end of the summer. I went and talked the guy down to $2K and bought the car. I had it towed back to the warehouse that I work at and brought it inside. The basics of the car is that it's a 1962 impala 4door post, with a 235 and ironglide. white with red interior. No options except maybe the tissue holder. Interior was in excellent shape except for the driver and p***enger doors, rear deck, and the seat part of the front seat. The body was pretty rusty though. but all the trim was present as well as the rear seat being mint (someone put plastic on it and never sat back there). headliner was perfect and the dash was great. Anyway, getting it running took: carb rebuild new exhaust 4 new tires starter waterpump hoses, wires, bulbs, belts, ******** basic tuneup upper A-arm bushings then driving it for a little while... heater core radiator So then I basically had a running car... which I drove around a bunch. and that's the start of this thread. more to come. thanks for looking.
arrr the memorier(or is that nightmares)of playing with 4 doors (here in aus it is hard to get stuff for 60's chevs) good luck and keep us posted
A 4 door 62 chevy is one of my favorite 4 doors, meaning I like a 4 door 62 as well as a 2 door. Some cars pull off a better look in a 4 door than others, this is one of the best ones
Good luck, Man. I rolled around in a '62 Belair 4 dr with a stovebolt and a glide and it was one of the most comfortable, best running cars I ever owned. I sold it to a friend who followed the Grateful Dead around in it for another year and a half. In all that time he had one transmission line incident, that was it!
yeah, it's a very comfortable car, like a living room on wheels, except with more seating and space than my actual living room.
