I recently had to replace the pressure hose and prior to that the valve had been rebuilt but did not pull hard right like it does now. My question, Is there an adjustment on the valve or maybe an in-line pressure reducer that got left out when I replaced the hose? I'd like to figure it out before I just pull out the valve and retro-fit to manual "armstrong" steering. Thanks in advance for any advice. Car is a 1964 Fairlane 500, V8 260, 3 speed Cruisomatic.

You should repost this on the HAMB section. This section is reserved for non automotive items. You will get an answer there but not here.

p***word. Replaced the power steering in my 64 with manual fifteen years ago after coming across a very low mileage 65 body in a yard. If I remember correctly the manual steering uses a shorter pitman arm and idler arm but the same box and of course a different drag link. Replacing the correct parts left me with very easy steering, I always felt the power steering was over boosted you never needed more than one finger to steer in a tight turn.
To answer your question I believe its your valve giving you the problem now.
    Good luck
