Chad, only issue with that is the hump will be almost 2 inches longer on each end, and the 3rd member may still be an issue. And i havent even ordered the steering shaft yet. Column will be done when the cab goes back on for mockup

Are you going to mount bags to those crossmembers on the notch?

Slow progress on that column........ kinda thinking you won't get to it because you keep messing with every notch on this frame.... :D:D:D

    just busting your balls. lol

Do you really need to be that complicated with the notch in that frame? Can it be simplified anymore like Chadillac's? Looking good so far!

The only issue with his design is the front bar. The front bar in general is just not gonna work, itll smack the 3rd member if i leave it there. Lmao i know man this frame is killin me!!!! I guess thats what i get for not mockin everything up tho. I shoulda just waited n did it all myself instead of rushing and having my buddy do it before it was all ready hahah

Also right now i have about 9 inches between upper and lower shock mounts. Anyone have a lead on short shocks ? I looked through the monroe specs catalog without much luck. Im gonna redo the upper mount and may gain an inch or so of room. We'll see

lmao i tried, didnt even come close:rolleyes: im gonna have to re do the shock mounts in the back. another effect of not having everything ready to mock up when my buddy did the notch and everything a while back.. then ill throw the cab on and knock out the battery door, floor patch, column and a few other things. btw, the dash clock idea is scrapped

Terd Ferg said he went to the local auto parts store and spent some time looking through their catalogs. He finally came up with a shock that worked. Not sure if you have a competent local parts guy to help you but it might be a place to start.

Rancho has a breakdown based on compressed and extended length. Maybe you could use that one and then cross from their part number to the brand you want.

Keep in mind that you have to follow the numbering system for the different type of mounts. I believe that the OE mount for these trucks is EB1...not sure what style your front clip takes.

Thanks for that link buzznut thats the kind of info i needed. Also am i right in thinking that the suspension height without shocks should be in the middle of the shock travel ? And as far as the front goes i can find shocks for a lowered front pretty easy

    Thanks red ryder

Honestly not a lot. At max MAYBE 4 hours a day. also im gonna re do the upper and lower shock mounts out back. I gotta kick the lower shock mounts further towards the rear of the truck and move the uppers to fit a shock. I wanna get the cab on and do the floor n all first. I have a weeks vacation that i have to take at work before january so i plan to knock a lot of shit out during that time

When you get this part figured out take some pics & post measurements (see arrows)

I'm going to put a manual trans back into my truck & I'm trying to figure out the clutch linkage (original setup gone)

That's how I plan on doing it, but the trick is getting the arm length correct for the clutch travel.

    Looking good!!!

Hey guys, whats the proper way to figure up shock mounts ? For instance if a shock is 9 inches compressed, 14 inches extended. Should my mounts be right in the middle at 11.5 inches apart. Allowing 2.5 inches for compression/extension?

Well how much travel do you have before your rear end bottom out? I gave myself a half inch to an Inch of travel past that and the rest the other way.

Those measurements were just an example. Got a hair over 5 inches of travel before the rear bottoms out.
