That ****ers really got the look! And an "A" on "A" rails just like God and Henry meant it to be! Love it!

  2. I think I'm the only one here that looks at those rear shock mounts and thinks they look a little on the weak side. They look like they'll break from the housing in 2 minutes. Are you planning on any gussetting to strengthen them?

I like the look of the rest of the car though. Can't go wrong with black on black!

They should be plenty strong I still have to fully weld them.

Ps, Paul I was wondering if you could send me pictures of your car or put up some pics on here, like to see what you got.

    Thanks

I'm planning a more thorough post of progress so far later on this winter. I'm now putting togehter the ch***ie for the last time. All pre 1950 parts.
Here is a short little list for ya.
Old Henry 28 body. Bought in parts. Rust fixed up and painted by a friend one sunday morning when he had a terrible hangover. Gave the look I'm after. Will probably get another coat by brush later.
Old Henry Frame, some modified/lowered. Brushpainted :)
Hopped up Truck/army block 39-42, (3 3/16), 4" larger valves, porting, Smith cam, Evans heads, PM7, Harman Collins magneto etc etc
    37 box
    Early 32 rear, 3:54, 46-48 Brakes
Okie Adams or perhaps an old So-Cal axle, Not 100% sure. ( comes from an old Bonneville driven 29 roadster out of Don Fergusons collection. 40-41 Brakes F
    BLC and 39 Zephyr lamps
Stewart Warner back mounts with old panel. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=229994&d=1159999555

    You get the point. :)

More to come later just need to take some more photos.

    Paul,

Your car looks and sounds very cool, I like the pre 50 theme.
I think I'm going to brush paint mine to, what kind of paint did you use?

The body where blasted in 1970 so I started from scratch there.
Layed a coat of light grey, 1 base thinner based, primer. Right out of the box. Just some thinner for easy spraying

The black paint/enamel is regular "car paint" 2 - 3 component acryl, I think. Paint, hardener and thinner for spraying. It's semi glossy. I put in some flatteing additives to remove the "top of the shine".It's not near flat black though.
This stuff can not be bought here after 1 jan 2007. Has to be waterbased due to environmental considerations.

Next coat will be more of the same applyed by brush or perhaps some White Spirit based one component enamel. You know the regular kind you can buy at the hardware store.
When heated some degrees above room themp it floates just fine when applied by a quality brush.
I'll roll it outside into the spring-sun next year for this. Should be fun.
Body is NOT dent and scratch free. Bondo/filler ??? nope.

Frame is brushpainted with the semiflattended acryl sense the thinner. Applyed onto a grey enamel it had when I got it.

It looks just like what it is. A homepainted old roadster.
Hey,... the year is 1946 right ??:D:D
