I took the A banger out of the shed today for the first time.
I have no idea what I am doing with the carb settings or advance lever. It seems to be running very rich.
Some help with adjusting the carb would be great.
    Thanks
    Brendan

    Well done Brendan,

Great to see another banger on the road especially in L300 country.

    Nice looking car!
advance should be up- retarted to start and pull down till it runs smooth. You can adjust the flow of gas by turning the choke rod clock wise till it seats ( not real hard) then try and turn it back counter-clockwise 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn. As far as the adjustments on your carb it depends on which carb you have. The above method was for stock updraft carbs.

Hill climb car.jpg You might try two carbs.

If you have original carb It should be adjusted to about 1/4 turn open. The spark should be adjusted as you drive. The faster you go the more spark. Most guys just pull the lever down 3/4 of the way and leave it there when it is running. But that is not the best way.

Some carbs have replacement jets which are two big. If your carb has replacement jets it will run to rich.
