just found a 59 f100 in a barn in western new york, bought it on the spot. the previous owner parked it in 1986 because of a shimmy in the p***enger front wheel. the truck came from cali in 1976, the owner drove it back himself, had it undercoated and was religious like in it`s care, november 1st it went in the barn and may 1st it came out. Now it`s been 25 yrs, the engine looks super clean, no rot or rats in the truck anywhere all wiring is stock in apperance and pretty new, the motor is a 292, with a 3 speed and a overdrive unit. Moved the fan and the pulleys moved so not stuck, should I try to start it with fresh fluids and a tune up or soak it in wd40 first , motor has only 77,000 and is original to the truck..pics are coming asap....
Sounds like a good find . WD40 wont do diddly . Put fresh gas in it do an oil change on it . Pull the coil wire and crank it over for a minute to get the oil moving without it starting . Hook the coil wire back up and give it a shot worst case it doesnt start and you need to do more . I would try to fire it up before I did alot to it personally. Rick
here are a few pics. Should I use mono springs all the way around or remove leafs from the stockers, want it down low.......

I'd pull the plugs and put a little squirt of oil down each plug hole before turning it over than crank it over with the plugs out and the coil wire pulled. That will let the starter spin it and hopefully build up oil pressure before you put the plugs in and go to start it. Unless it had fresh oil when he parked it I'd change oil first too and make sure that the gas tank is clean and doesn't have bad gas in it. Sweet looking truck, I think you might be able to polish that one up and get it to shine.
Nice find, I'd just clean it up give it a tune up and drive the piss out of it. Where about did you find that at there not too many old barns in NF.
If it has sat for 25 years the old gas will have turned to varnish and the tank and the fuel lines will be full of crud, you should probably take out the tank and have it boiled out at a radiator shop and replace the fuel lines in the meantime pull the plugs and pour equal parts of Marvel Mystery Oil in each cylinder then drive it about 100 miles and then change oil that should loosen up the junk, recheck the oil in 500 miles and if it looks dirty change the oil and filter again then it should be good to go.If you put fresh gas in with that old varnish things upstream are just going to get plugged up.
Definitely put some marvel mystery oil in the cylinders. Turn it by hand. Change the oil. By-p*** the gas tank (or clean it out) with a new fuel filter. A good battery and give it a shot.
i work for that same owner but his other store on transit rd near wherle....i found it in a barn in North Collins. Grid out areas and go looking everyweekend. Is the lever and box on the underside of the steering columb a cruise control unit?
all the gas was drained and the tank was cleaned, still has not been opened since 1987, Lines were blown dry and carb drained.
"Grid out areas and go looking everyweekend. Is the lever and box on the underside of the steering columb a cruise control unit?" That is the old style hydraulic over electric, trailer brake controller. They work better than the newer all electronic controllers. Great find.
Nice looking old truck. Cool story and a great find. That would make a great daily driver for the summer months. Good luck with it! Sent from my iPhone using TJJ
looking to lower the stance, heard alot about the mono springs, 50/50 yea and ney, or should I just remove some of the leafs from the stockers?? they only have 42,000 original miles on them and they still seem to be very stiff...
Great looking truck. There will be more guys to give their take on lowering your ride. Meanwhile, some #0000 steel wool and mothers to the ft bumper. I would love to lightly polish and glaze that paint! The interior looks dandy.
it puts the rear end right on the frame. so i put air shocks in the back to raise it up a bit. otherwise it bottoms out. u would need a c-notch. try just flipping the rear end first and see how it sits. wanna go lower remove the 2 leafs.
