Hey guys, long time lurker here.. Recently swapped my Harley for a '57 2 door post. It has a running 350 and Saginaw 4 speed w hurst shifter, has an upgraded master cylinder w disc brakes in the front. I'm not sure what spindles are used on the disk brake conversion, trying to figure that out so I can get some drop spindles ordered. It's a little rough up close, pics make it look better than it really is, but it'll do just fine. I'm just stoked to finally get my hands on one of these, 57 Chevy has been a dream car of mine all my life. I'm not going to go crazy with it, just want to get the stance right and drive it on weekends. Motor feels real strong, I have some shift linkage issues to work out before I can drive it, can't wait.

Nice! Good on ya for getting one of your dream cars! I've been making and installing a bunch of patch panels all week in a 4 door we are doing for a guy. Keep us posted on the progress!

    Nice looking car.

Most disc brake kits use the original spindles.

  7. Your front disc's are probably 66-72 Chevelle, that was a popular swap before all the aftermarket stuff came along. Nice score, welcome to the Tri-5 family.

  11. right around Easter i bought a 57 210 4 door with a 350 and a saginaw 4 speed with a hurst shifter. I haven't had so much fun driving an old car in YEARS.

You can cut a coil or two off to drop it a little in the front as well rather than buying drop spindles.

It's been years since I have had a '57. If I ever get another it's going to be a 2dr post, black with Belaire side trim, lowered on Halibrands and a handling suspension. You've got a great canvas to paint whatever flavor tri-five you desire. Keep us posted.

If you use the right size tires, you dont need lowered spindles. My 57 front crossmember drags the street sometimes at high speed/dips in city streets

70-73(?) Monte Carlo uses the same stuff. A quick check of Heidt's web site indicates that they have a caliper bracket that will work with the above mentioned brakes. It doesn't say what rotor is required.

  19. It's a 210. Short trim ontop of the fins. Long side mldgs. If you have to do a rewire American Auto Wire has a great kit. Everything you need is in it. Parts guy in East Texas Jim Hawes Classic Chevy Connection. I'm jealous.

Cut two coils and the front will look killer, had mine like that for ten years and two power tours

  22. Well I hope you traded a Block head and not a real Harley for that. :D

I traded a 57 Chebby for a harley once so I am going to guess that your trade was spot on money wise. Did you get the trim with it?

This will give you an idea as to what the rotors look like and the factory spindle less the backing plate.

Thanks guys! Those are Keystone mags, I really love them and plan on keeping them as long as I can find 14" tires. The car didn't come with the side trim, looks to me like it is a 210, ill find some trim and put it back on. The front fenders are glass and dont really fit well, gaps are all off. I tried to adjust fenders for better gaps, but they are so flimsy and warped that I can't do much. The Harley I traded was a '04 twin cam, market value is about $6500 around here for one like I had. I feel like it was a good trade. I have another bike anyway, 1200 Sportster motor on a Flyrite rigid frame, DNA springer. Thanks for the tips about the spindles, the pics help, ill check that out tonight. I had planned on using a 2" drop spindle and cutting 1 coil, blocks on the rear.
