Thanks for all the great pics, I know how much fun you all had. I also really enjoyed my late night (or should we say early morning?) cell phone pic of you and conversations with other intoxicated HAMBers. I am really looking forward to being all better and coming next year in my truck. Hopefully I'll see you in early December for the calendar stuffing!

    Yeah, I think.

She had it all planned out and my head was spinning trying to keep up. The plan was to see the sites in Detroit (both of 'em:D) Then head to the land of back bacon. Then drop back through the USofA and stop in Springfield, MO and Branson, MO. They are supposed to be running through Tulsa Sunday and Mama Rash and I are going to try to meet up with them for some grub.

All this if their schedule holds.

We cruised right by your place but the guys were kinda itching to get home or I would have suggested a garage tour of your place. Next time for sure.

Roadstar and I have stopped at that place in the past. I agree, lots of over-priced junk but it's always a neat place to stop and nose around while stretching ones legs.

I wish I would have known. They could have stayed here at the house to save cash or at the very least I could have had a little HAMB BBQ meet and greet here for them.

I have to photoshop you behind bars... you know its coming... :)

****s you got treated that way. They didn't know you are the HAMB***ador... you should have diplomatic immunity.

  10. Denise,

It was great to meet the legend that is you!! (Thanks for the cookies.) Great pictures...except mine - there goes my secret iden***y!! You caught some pics of stuff I missed and I helped park about 1/2 of them. How did that happen.

Even though I'm only 35 miles away from Morris, next year I think I'll get a room and spend Friday night hanging out at the bar. Looks like all of you had more fun than is permissible by law.

Anybody who has not gone to the Pile-Up yet, this is a must attend show. Great cars, great folks, great chili this year!! and beautiful Midwestern weather. Be there next year. I will and hell, I'll even have a car to drive in.

We were missing you for sure!! I won't mention what an AWESOME time you would have had cuz I don't want you to feel bad and I certainly understand the not feeling up to attending. Don't tell anyone but Matt was REALLY missing you.;)

As far as the calendar stuffing I would LOVE to have you come up for that. I've got plenty of room for you guys to stay here at the house.

Thanks for the great pics Denise. If I’m not mistaken, it looks like some of those cars were actually driven!! Someday I’ll make to the PileUp.

I'd say 9 out of 10, not counting the projects. But thats just my guess from the so few trailers in the hotel/motel parking lots.

    thanks.

  17. 'Cuz my kids (at their mom's for the weekend) swiped my regular wool hat and that's all I could find to keep my bald head warm.

C'mon now, you all know you wanted that hat...

I love these photo essays, how do you remember all those people and everyones names? Great job, you should put all these stories in a book or something.

  19. Well I loved Oldcarmike's Big Gay Hat (tm)... it was great when he was parking cars... "yeah just drive up to the guy with the chicken hat" worked well!

Awesome story and pics Denise! You rock!

Thanks sweetie, I was drawing a blank and I didn't want to leave the photo out. I'll edit it right now!

Great seeing you two again. xoxoxo

  23. Well thank you very kindly. You know, with all the rubberneckers there, having something bright yellow on my head could only have helped the "safety" factor a bit.

BTW, count me in as a Volunteer next year! Free admission, a shirt, and a 'special gift'... Worth every moment.

    I concur.

Matt found me at the meet and greet to personally thank me for sending Bonneville salt and the signed t-shirt to ChevygirlRox after her fiasco with the T Bucket. It was nice meeting him and hearing how happy my little gift made her. :) It made me feel real good.

Needless to say, I was a little surprised to walk in drinking a beer and finding the cops dragging your *** out! Ha Ha Ha

Nothing yet but I'm hoping upper mangement will correct their at***udes once they find out about the situation, which of course they will from me. I know one thing, I'll NEVER stay at the Morris Comfort Inn again and unless corporate does something to convince me otherwise, I'll never stay at any Comfort Inn again, anywhere and I've got 30 more years of traveling cross country and staying in hotels left in me.;)

  27. I certainly won't hurt your stance to mention that hundreds of fellow HAMB'ers are viewing this - even though they should be working... damn, I gotta go to work.

So you were the one with the cookies at the meet and greet! Too bad the stir fry wasn't sitting that well at the time and had to refuse. I'll definitely eat a couple next time! Great pics and HAMBumentary!

Thanks for the essay! It's great seeing the people behind the cars, and the faces behind the names.

You should call/write a letter to the hotel's regional or corporate office and complain. A friend of ours had a confirmed reservation at the Day's Inn, but when they arrived at 3am (car trouble), they had given the room away. She *****ed. A lot. Finally they gave her a room "just so you'll go away". :D The next morning the manager apologized and got her the room for saturday, too.
