Well, I think its time I brought you all up to date and start posting a build thread on my 56. I bought this truck in early june of 2009 and decided it was time I built one the right way, wll as good as I could for the money I could afford to spend. Anyway this is going to be a few posts all at once for ease of attaching photo's and such. This is how it looked when I got it home and stripped off the front sheet metal
I decided early on I wanted 4 wheel dsc's and independant front suspension. A friend of mine sold me this buick clip really cheap So it was time to start stripping down the front end to get ready to chop it off
I chopped of the front frame rails but unfortunatly in my excitement I forgot to snap pictures along the way The next weekend it was time to slide the clip under and bolt it up, I was nervous for a few days I'll tell you, but it slid under nicely
Shortly after that I had a friend come over with his welding truck and weld it all in solid Oh and at the same time I had swapped in a ford 8.8 read with disc brakes and picked up a nice set of used wheels. The pics were somehow forgotten too but I'm putting a 4 link set up in this spring and I'll make sure to take pics then
Next up it was time to think about an engine, and yet another friend helped me out with a decent 400 sm blk and I coupled that with a turbo 350 Picked up a set of late model chevy truck headers and dropped it all in. Also found a driveshaft the right length at a wrecker and put a conversion u-joint on the end and installed the explorer donor rear yoke so it would bolt to the rear end.
Now it was time to make sure the stance was right and slide on the front sheet metal for a test fit. Think it sits just about perfect for me I have a few cosmetic setails and brackets to build but here is what the front sheet metal looks like from the inside
That brings us up to today....and my late christmas present arrived from kansas city I will keep adding to this as work progresses, but my garage isnt heated and its mighty cold out there... lol......still very stoked to get back to work on it
