yeah, the clear coat fiasco was not fun but it's not that big of a deal to fix. it's just work! got a couple little touch ups in the black to do aswell but no biggie. it'll all be in ship shape in no time. i just LOVE the colors together. should look even better with the stainless back on it.

  14. cherry,
your bug looks great!! my wife has a '56 bug that she worked an entire summer on. she rebuilt the engine, the tranny, the brakes, and the front end!! it had been rolled at some point, so i'm putting on a ragtop clip from another 56 oval on it now. i'm always proud to tell people she built it, and so is she.
i think it's awesome to see you workin' hard on your vw!!! congrats to you on a fine lookin' vw. some black BRM's sure would look kewl on there!!

Leave 'em "mag" color. It'll look good once everything's back together. If you don't think so, paint 'em later. BTW, looks nice.

nice job, I cant wait to start building my bug. It is kinda restfull and a nobrainer when compared to some of the crap we have built in the last year.
You might wanna check out www.volksrods.com. Some cool bug stuff happening over there.

it had been suggested before to paint the Empis green but being the painted "as cast" center and not the polished wheels the texture is QUITE rough and would'nt look good unless it was all smoothed out. as for the BRMs, YUK!!!! i hate those things and CherryBlossoms has mentioned she did'nt care much for them when i showed her pics of them. the plan is for some smooth stock steelies (painted green) with wide whites (did i allready mention that??). also want to paint most of the engine tin green with a few brackets ans such in black and maybe a couple small chrome or polished bits to brighten it up. it is such a relief to work on something so simple after some of the more "complicated" mods i've done lately. i have my bid in on a couple more Bugs. one is a VERY solid rag top sunroof car (early 60s) and would recieve a nice chop, suicide doors and a BOAT LOAD of louvers front and rear. this one'll be full fendered with VW power but my planned split window project will not be so subtle! but that is all on down the road. the point is if i get these two Bugs there are a butt load of extra parts that go with it, including the wheels we need for the CherryBlossom-mobile. can't wait to have it all together.

    You've been bitten, sucker.

You just missed the Bug O Rama weekend before last. Car Show, Swap and Drags, very cool.

Pick up the next VW Trends, I think there is coverage of a swap and show we had a couple of months ago in Tempe, neat stuff, no money.

Nobody better build the one that's brewing in my brain.....

No rush, I do really like driving hoodless.... I get to "show off" the BB. [IMG]

I was thinking, if it's done by then, to pick it up NEXT Sunday, the 9th, on my way back from Coldwater, 6 or 7ish, weather permitting of course. [IMG] If it's really crummy weather, maybe I can borrow a truck and come get it anyway. I'm really looking forward to seeing the bug in person. [IMG]
