so some of you have seen my albums and asked why i have not posted photos of my chassis for my 48 volkswagen! lets see how long this post goes before a hater gets a hold of it of it get closed. that being said here is the chassis i have been working on for a 48 volkswagen split window. it has a volkswagen rear transaxle , custom one off tube chassis with a 36 ford front axle and wishbones. the clutch linkage has got alot of attention , it has two bell cranks and 3/8 heims. the brake and clutch pedals are all fabricated . the pads are copped off of a ford model t. the throttle pedal is off of some machine. i have much more work to do it . but to me it is a hot rod ( old car body with big engine ) . i love traditional hot rods but some times its good to think outside the box and be different. this does not mean i will be selling my 32 coupe deville but when you build 32's and model a's throught the week it is nice to work on something different.

nice work. Nice job on the pedels. Interesting way to lower the body by build a full custom frame.

  7. I think Ryan trumped your trump ;). And for the record, many of us have a soft spot for VWs, and we can surf the Samba to satiate it. Neat fab however.

Cool car, the back window finks you out on the "48" though. If it was real it would make some people jump out of their skin.

looks like good work, but have to admit that the chassis looks funny with that body on it (i'm a vw guy too, but prefer traditional cal look.)

that said, understanding your own path....... i think it would be cool to figure out how to do something on the fan shroud, as it stick out with the body so low.... maybe try to combine the best of both worlds between Type I and III air flow styling / function...?

    thanks for sharing.

Please tell me that front frame drop section is going to get some reinforcement before it hits the highway.

    Nice work!

the front wheels are 9n ford tractor 19x3 with coker 19x 4.00 excelcier tires on ford 9n tractor hubs . they use the same bearings as ford pass car and fit right on the earily spindles.
