    I completely agree with you.
What it is, is the car is a GERMAN made car, and so you have your bug fans on here but they cant say anything cause they will be attacked.
I am one of the bug fans, I love them man.

Looking good sir! Drew does in fact have the '48 title, we had quite a LONG talk about it today, it will NEVER be for sale either as I'm told, especially to the guy who keeps hounding him on it. The car isn't done or registered, but if your creeper skills can track down people go for it.

Totally bad ass man! I love it. And I don't give a shit what kind of title it has. Besides how many new fiberglass '32 Fords are there out there with 1932 titles? Keep up the good work!

I agree the fab work is great, but nothing beats a classic "cal look" bug.

This thread makes me miss my '65 'vert.

Those motors runn great with the stock solex dual carb setup. I converted my '72 squareback from FI to the dual solex's. I made my own linkage using R/C airplane rods and heims. the stock one (mine anyways) had too much flex to keep them sync up nice.

If you put one of these in a T1 make sure you have the air flow sorted it. Id will over heat if you run the stock tins. T3 have the air intake on the rear. I would recommend a 1.8L - 2.0L T4 motor with th porsche style coolin panels. There was someone repoping them in fiberglass. They were pricey, but sweel looking. It will keep the engine cool and those T4's run great with a pair of webers.

One thing that Fred did right on Stink Bug was make the headlights almost disappear by painting them black and mounting them beside the hood by the axle. Too many of these newer Volksrods (and I just went to a show yesterday) find the biggest chrome headlights they can and then mount them way out on the front like rallye car driving lights. Fred nailed it...

It's not mine and I like it a lot, but I'd raise it up a little bit in the rear for more of a rake and balance out the visual body to tire relationship.

I love the front wheels... great idea.

franz , i have to say your old car is sooo killer . i have never seen it in person but it is in amuseum about an hour away from me. now everyone wants to compare cars but you did the whole vw parts thing on your car and me being more of a hot rodder , i am using old ford front axle , 36 ford fold out windshield frame and hot rod parts .

Amen to that! Anyone that has access to private information from other states and brags about it on the internet deserves to be in jail.

Whats to brag about ? I didnt say I was getting ANYONES personal information, just a list of VEHICLES registered in, Hamilton, Clermont, Butler, Warren, Clinton, Brown, Highland, Green, Montgomery, Preble, Adams, Pike, Ross and Fayette counties, no address's no names, no vin's. I figured I would leave the rest of the state out that way if a 48 doesnt show up he can say its titled in another county. Or he can always say it was brought in from out of state and hasnt been registered yet.

I would really like to know the story on how you came about the 48 title and the remains of the car.
Where did the car come from?
What parts of the 48 do you have?

Its not like its a toyota or honda!

  21. I have a 12 pack of beer that says that isn't a '48 and you're just bullshitting us.

I can make up some numbers and pull the wool over the eye's of 98% of the DMV workers

I mean, I don't think it is that hard to get a '48 title in any state for any car...

So to PROVE it's really a '48, your burden of proof is a little steeper than "Well, it's REGISTERED as a '48"

The way I see it... you can either clam up and when you fill out the tech card for Old Skool Rodz you can pencil in "1948" and that will be the "hook" for the story... or you can MAN UP and tell us what you know.

Just like street racing, put up or shut up.

    Sam

p.s. Get rid of that box and the generator on the motor and hide that shit somewhere else.

Beautiful work!!!....keep doin' what you like. I knew you were going to catch shit from some folks, but screw 'em. And I have no particular love for VW's over anything else. Some people get WAY too worked up and miss the whole point. It's not Ahm-murr-ican!!! I'm sure if it was a flat black Anglia with a Y-block or some shit, you would have nothing but praise. Damn you for thinking for yourself!!!

I can't believe how dick-hurt some of the people on this board are getting!

Title is a '48, the car is an early '50's

This thread is NOT about a title, but instead over fabrication and the build of the car!

SERIOUSLY DUDE, can you NOT read or did you just not take the time? He's never hidden the fact that the body was early 50's, and why do you care so much what the friggin' title says? My dad's Tupperware '32 highboy has a 1998 Special Construction title... WHO GIVES A SHIT?

Now, back to our regularly scheduled program... give us more on the most excellent fab work on this most unusual kraut-rod!

Man, just post a scan of the title to shut this fool up. What a child, you got something he has been looking for, for a long time? So what, get over it, some people get lucky from time to time.
Come to think of it, maybe you need to get lucky?
    Doc.
