    Great shots....COOL camera!!!!

My wife just purchased these jewels. The one on the left was hidden in a box of junk we HAD to take with the pile we actually wanted at an auction last weekend.....funny how that worked out. She was about to toss the box and noticed the camera case just as she tilted it. The second was an e-bay purchase. Both use 120 film and both take excellent pictures. My wife also recently bought en entire darkroom set-up off Craig's list CHEAP!!!

We are able to develope our own pictures but most camera supply shops carry film and handle processing. You will more than likely run into dead ends when dealing with the older hardware (you'll hear "everybody wants digital now" which is true) but stick with it. There's still plenty of people who love this so-called lost art. I deal mostly with slides so our intentions are to work on learning that process next.

Those old cameras are so basic, yet very sturdy. They were truly built to last a lifetime.

BTW.......not to hi-jack your thread:rolleyes: ...but can somebody fill me in on the pinhole camera set-up. I've heard of it in the past but wasn't sure what was involved.

620 film cameras can still be used. You just need to find 2 empty rolls for it. 120 film can be rerolled onto a 620 spool because it film itself is the same size. The Brownie 2a model C uses 116 film which is bigger than 120. I made plastic spacers on my friend's lathe to fit the 120. Next I want to make is spacers to fit 35mm in it. I have 3 cameras with film in them now, a 620 reroll, the 120 in 116, and 35 rerolled in a 127. Just experimenting with different stuff. After I got my first camera I found the brownie page. This guy knows it all and I hadn't even thought about using the cameras before it. Full demo how to reroll and different adaptations.

Here is a sampling of my collection.

Pics look good man...how are the twins??driving you nuts yet?

  6. I read your post and the first thing I thought was,how did you download them? Can you get the images put on a disc? I had one like the middle one in the second row, when I was a kid. Might still have it. Great pic's,BTW.

  7. man, you're lucky having a place that can process the 120...I bought a rolleicord IV a while back, and love using it...but sheesh, trying to get a place to develop the film in this area is not easy.

I've got a bunch of old box cameras, mostly brownies, I use 120 in some of the 620 ones, the target 616's are just for using print paper for "one at a time" long exposures...

nice photos man! I'd like to see more:D

My stuff, sure I can go get it done, but the 120 format stuff is a lot more expensive to have done. I'd have to charge $20+sh just to make even. My 35mm stuff can be done at wallyworld, so I can sell those for $10+sh. Link's stuff is probably more since he is a professional, I'm just a amateur that likes to tinker. He is some 35mm stuff mostly using a 70's Minolta.

Film is the other thing you play with in the dark.

The twins are 2 now, what can I say but oh shit. The new baby is 3 1/2 mo. now and the wife is recovering fine from the cancer stuff so far.

  18. Here are my camera's: Yashica MAT-124, Western Camera MFG CO and Whittaker Pixie Flash camera. The red box is a old darkroom light.
I had some film in the Yashica but somehow I jammed it up. Now I might have to attempt to fix it.
    Nice pics!!

120 film is cool and I love using it and hope more people use it and discover the wonderful quality of medium format film.

All of my prints are for sale and carry a heavy HAMB discount so hit me up if you like anything!

You can get both color and B/W pretty easily and it can be found in any pro camera store such as calumet, samy's, BH, Freestyle and the like.

Fortunatly for me living in Los Angeles I can get my 120 color neg and slide film processed at a number of places locally. The Color neg film rund me $1.75 to process an .85¢ per frame to scan at 100mb from a lab in Burbank called Protek Color Lab. Not to shabby huh?

My E-6 Slide film runs me $9 bucks from A & I in Hollywood.

Here are some links about where you can order film from and some other info about medium format photography.
    Enjoy!

    Film and stuff...

It was, had lots of girlfriends in high school. Especially when when I had the holey 501s with neon pink and black tiger striped spandex underneath. Oh the 80s rocked! :D

I'll see if my sister will do a web page for me, I know she has some unused space I could use. This will be fun if it works out.

so it seems 120 film can be used in most older box camers then?

120 can be used in 620 cameras by rerolling, or you can buy them rerolled or shaved down online. Spacers can be made for cameras that had used larger types. For smaller stuff like the 127 cameras, I'm not sure what, but as I said, I just rerolled 35mm onto a roll to see if it works. I'll let you know in the future if it worked OK.

When loading and unloading film, it could be complicated. Is that so?

Not really, just practice with the empty take up roll or the unopened new roll. Then load in the dark just to make sure the film doesn't get exposed.

Where do you buy 120 film?

At the local camera store or online.

The only drawback for medium format cameras is you only get like 8 pics to a roll.
