Finally getting around to fixing my coupe. It has a flat cam, (it had more lift than i thought and i didnt measure Valvespring compression ) but its gonna get all fi**ed. Gonna Pull it all out reapint/fill the firewall, put a crossflow radiator in it (the stock one dosent cut it). need to change the rear suspension, it has 75 nova 2.5 inch rear leafs under it, but mounted to the bottom of the frame, so i am gonna mount them flush with the top on the inside of the frame to drop it more, as it has 4.5 inshes of lowering blocks in it, and wouldent p*** a scrub test and would mangle stuff if i blew a tire. This and my Tmod are getting all of my attention this winter. Windows and stuff are int he plans too, I have driven this car awhile till the cam flattened out. so its been sitting for 4-5years? I started this car when i was 12... i am hoping to White metalflake the roof keeb the bottom Grey swede, and do little fender scallops and stuff and stripr the piss outa it. MAy be some astros and Whits, who knows. Id like to chop it if i could find anouther coupe roof, as this one has been danced on hard.. kill 2 birds with one stone.. Anyone have good pics of these cars chopped? Id liek to see them. Here are the pics. Aaron
Anyone got good pics of these chopped? tastefully? i never got a good look at the chop on that car on Rides last night, never did a good profile shot of it..
I'm not sure that it's the same car but they have a step-by-step chop on a 51 coupe on their site. Three pages of photos, http://www.hollywoodhotrods.com/Projects/51ChevyChop/51ChevyChop1.htm
I think one of the mags chopped a Coupe a few months ago a did an article on it. Dont remember if it was Old School or CKD. Those Coupes are getting kinda hard to find these days! Its not chopped, but here is a pic of my 51 Sport Coupe. The pic was taken in the spring, its sits a lot lower now, and I have some wide whites on the way for it.
Just my opinion, but I really prefer these early chevy's unchopped. Rarely do I see one that's chopped with the correct proportions...
Anyone got a decent pic of Fabian Valdez' coupe? Judging from one small image in an old Hop Up, it's got an awesome chop.
[ QUOTE ] Just my opinion, but I really prefer these early chevy's unchopped. [/ QUOTE ] I think that its harder to get the COUPES to look good chopped. The bulbus roof line on Coupes doesnt seem to flow good with the big trunk lid. Other body styles look ok chopped, but in my opionon the Coupes dont.
Here ya go,chrisman,Fabian Valdez's coupe.Nailed it,didn't he?A Peter Vincent pic from the Muroc Reunion '99.
That Fabian Valdez coupe is the right one without doubt. Who did it and what was done? The flowing trunk is really making the car look clean.
Did you see this one Norrland posted from Sweden? It's got shoebox Ford rear quarters, but it's a chopped Chevy coupe. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/image_uploads/579765-chevy49.jpg
