I wish your father the best and he will be in my prayers tonight. It's amazing what the human body can withstand and survive. He'll need a lot of positive stuff around him and nothing will probably make him happier than talking about the show, working on the rod, etc. My Dad was always excited about that stuff when he had cancer. Good luck man and take care of your Dad.

My dad fell off his crop sprayer -- like 15' up -- and landed on his back, collapsing a lung. He got up and drove it out of the field, then we took him to the doc.

Those old guys can be tough old birds.

    My prayers are with you.

  9. So sorry to hear about your dad, if you are going to print this out or read this to him, then he'll see or hear this... Ya done good with your boy, I just met him on Friday for the first time, and he makes a good 1st impression. I'm sorry about your accident, but you have to get better to put a boot in the ass of the morons who sprayed that much ether in there and didn't tell you about it.

For what it's worth, it was nice meeting you.

Alright guys... I just got home a little bit ago...

    I have more good news!:)

On his latest chest X-rays, the right lung looks PERFECT, and the left lung is only showing a bruise about the size of a baseball (all of them up to this, the entire left side of his chest was solid white!)!

The left lung has re-inflated, and they've turned the pressure on the ventilator down a bunch, and it seems like it's going to stay inflated on it's own!

They started him off at like 80% oxygen (normal air is 20 something?) initially, and they cut it down to 40% today, and his blood/oxygen level stayed right at 100%!

They got his trach sealed up, so he's getting all the air he's supposed to...

He's almost completely weened off of the blood pressure meds, and his blood pressure's normal.

Most of the bruising/swelling from his face and arms is gone, and the swelling in his chest has gone down a bunch.

I've pretty much had a perma-grin since I got there and found this stuff out.

I know that this stuff doesn't mean we're out of the woods yet, but damn it was good to see that much progress over one night!

Even the doctors and nurses all commented on how amazing the change was for such a short period.

It must be all of you guys out there thinkin' of us; so make sure you KEEP IT UP!!!

    Thanks again everyone!:)

I'm glad to hear the good news. It sounds like it's all gonna work out. I know two car guys that passed away over the weekend. I'm relieved to hear your dad is pulling through.

God Bless Him!, I hate to hear of anyone getting hurt, but espcially when an innocent person gets hurt due to the stupidity of others. Hopefully he has good insurance and a big mouthed ambulance-chasing lawyer!

Not yet...he's still in pretty bad shape, and right now he's in some special wing of the ICU...
(My daughters are going crazy not being able to see him! :( )

But as soon as he's in a regular room, I'll be sure to let you know!

I am fairly new to the HAMB, but am very impressed with all the thoughts/prayers you have received. This is like a family here, very cool.
I also wanted to extend my prayers to you and your family, I almost lost my parents a few years back, and I truly appreciate having them around (not that I didn't before), but it really makes you think.
    Take care, Mike

Dang--blood ox of 100? That's better than mine, and I'm only 30! Really should stop smoking, I guess. :D

Sounds like there's light at the end of the tunnel, and I am pullin' for him. Wishing him a speedy recovery and many nights of, "well, did I ever tell you about the time..."

  28. I'm pullin' for him and got you and your family in my prayers. I read somebodys post that said it's like a family here...and it is. I'm proud to lend my support along with fellow hambers in these extremely rough times. It sounds like he is doing better and I'm glad.

My prayers are with you and your family. The human body can be amazingly resilient, He'll pull through.

  30. Wow... just logged on and read this entire thread. I meet you a month or 2 ago, went with my buddy Joe to get that 39 cab. I'm glad to hear everything may be turning for the better! We looked for you on Sunday in Detroit but you weren't around, now I know why. If there is anything you or your family need give me shout... really. And make sure you give your best to your Dad and the rest of your family for me! Sounds like he is surrounded with positive thoughts and good energy!! Keep it up!
