Hot Rods My deuce coupe moved under its own power for the first time with a Man A Fre intake.

Hopefully there’s still a few guys around here who remember fab32. A few years ago I built the ‘32 five window he’d owned from 1977 till his passing in 2015. It drove for the first time at the Detroit Autorama in 2018. But after that it’s been in limbo. I built it, lots of my own money, but I didn’t own it. A deal fell through that involved giving Frank’s ‘32 sedan which I own back to his son and I would take ownership of the coupe. That didn’t happen and the coupe just sat. Running out of options I refinanced my house, and instead of new windows and siding I bought my friend’s deuce coupe. It’s been a struggle to get it to run with the 4X2 intake, but it’s close to being able to go for a spin. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Awesome 32 and beautiful job on her and great to see it back on the road

  4. That's awesome, Scott. You still have Frank's sedan, too ?

His shop posts were always intriguing. You did a bunch with the place .. & for his family.

True friend. God bless you both.

I applaud your perseverance. Keep moving forward, don't look back. I remember Harry Luzader running a Man-A-Fre on his "32" back when he first put it on the street. That was in 1962. I can't remember him saying much about it.

  7. That's a very cool car!! when you get a chance, can you post photo's of the intake / carbs?
how did it run? , what size wheels /tires? Thanks!!!!

The wheels/tires are 7.50X16 in back and 4.75-4.50X16 up front.

Thanks, he was a special guy and I still work out of his shop. I’m very fortunate to still own his old sedan too.[IMG]

    Frank was a true gentleman.
Glad to hear you have both of his cars and the coupe is under its own power.

  12. It’s in good hands and you’ll give it the attention and enjoy it the way it should be done...supposed to warm up down in the Detroit area this week..66 and sunny...get some miles on it...

Nice story and it screams hot rod. The color is fantastic. Interesting intake for sure and probably not the easiest to set up.

It looks great! Now it’s time to test your patience tuning it. I struggle with 1 and 2 carbs, so 4 is only a dream (or nightmare)in my world

@Lucky77...quite the Hotrod story...taking a walk back in time in such a spiritual way...I look forward to your continued journey with these Hotrods...

I have an X1 with 6x2s running on 2...I will someday attempt what you have done...get them all running...why, because it's part of that Vintage Hotrod spirit and it's bound to light up a big smile from ear to ear once it all kicks in...;)

Glad to see you get the coupe. Nice color. What color is it? I'm building a 31 and I think this color would really look good with lots of chrome. Is is candy color? What vehicle did it come on from the factory? Thanks.

Yup, have had one on my vette for 5 years. Runs good, but I think I am going to try a 2x4 setup for a while just for a change. I wonder if your air cleaners will allowed w enough air flow? What jets are you running? All of the old magazine articles on em call for jet sizes.005-.010 smaller than stock. Man a fres like a lot of timing advance too.....

  26. Great to see it! I do miss Frank, he contributed parts to the LSR car. His name will go on it as part of the crew when done in memoriam. He really wanted to go to the Salt.
