You don't really realize how small deuces and Model A's are until you park them next to (or under) a fullsize pickup or van. I have a 3 car attached garage and I could easily get six of these in there, if I had that many, even if none of them were smashed.
And folks look at me funny when I say this next car will not sit low at all! Glad you are OK, just saw the pics with the van in em.
I've often thought it might be different if the adjusters had to try to find replacement parts for the $$$ they offer.
Do us a favor and let everyone know how it all gets resolved with the insurance when its all said and done. I've got a gennie 32 that also gets driven often and have wondered how it would go if it ever got slammed by a fool in a mini van. So the offending fools insurance isn't covering it? Thanks good job staying cool too.
Don, Hated to see that car crunched.....I first noticed it at the roundup a while back, and loved it. Glad that you came out unhurt....must have been hard to have any sort of restraint towards the other driver. Skot
Don, I've been busy and way behind on reading the HAMB. I heard about you accident this weekend. Glad you are ok. I know the feeling very well from a few years ago. That patina can not be replaced. There is this insurance term called "loss of value" that you can hit them on after the car is fixed. Loosing that patina is worth a bunch of money.
I got a check from Hagerty to do the repairs. They treated me very fairly and were a pleasure to do business with under the circumstances. So far, I have replaced the seriously bent front suspension pieces and put a new radiator on it so I can move it around. As soon as I get into the new shop I'll put it back together pretty much the way it was for the time being. I will also get going on the original chassis with 365 Cadillac power for a little longer term solution. I haven't got much done on it so far because I've been spending most of my time getting the new business off the ground.
Don, Thanks for the update. Glad that Hagerty treated you well but what else would you expect from a Michigan company. Keep us posted on the roadster's progress.
Its a shame to see a car like that smashed up. It just makes my stomach turn...but I'm glad you are ok though
So glad to see her coming together Don. Heard about the career change from River1. Best of luck with it. jerry
Glad you were satisfied with your settlement..Best of luck with your car repair and getting your new business off the ground.....Mike
Good to see you keeping your motivation going forward though these tuff and challenging times and nice to see the 32 moving under it's own power. Good luck and Godspeed with the new shop it can and will be a challenge but looking back when i had my own shop, were some of the happiest and funnest times I've had, and one day i will do it again. Good luck to you Don and when you get the new shop open make sure you have a open house. love to see it. OC.Fab
Boy its sure easy to miss stuff here on the HAMB. Im just reading about this for the first time. Im glad its working out for you. I had to go look at a bunch of pics of your car I took at Bonneville to make me feel better.
Cad Powered... Even better than before. Are you going to use the engine from your '57 or a differant one? Hyfire
The one that was in my 57 was rusted together pretty bad. I've got another one that turns over and may even run, I'll use it.
