The Perverbial pouring water in front of a man dying of thirst. Ok, where is "heaven"???? I need to check out Rocco and Cheaters in Ala. soon.Neat old stock. Glenn
Why would anyone paint an engine, even a 4 banger, lavender? That is lavender isn't it? Or is it lilac? WTF?
Looks kinda grey to me. But where is this stuff. I don't have a favorite speed shop, well that I know of. But I'm open for suggestion.

That look's like Heaven's Speed Shop!!..........great atmosphere........wish I had such a place in my backyard! Thanks for the pic's!
[ QUOTE ] Why would anyone paint an engine, even a 4 banger, lavender? That is lavender isn't it? Or is it lilac? WTF? [/ QUOTE ] Gracie, you gotta lay off the sauce in the middle of the day. What you thought was lavender is most certainly just machine gray.
DAMN!!! Last time I was up there the Best Speed shop we could find was in Federeral way and it didn't have anything like that going on! Where is that? My current wife lived in PullY'allUp when I met her. She has a sister who just moved from Kent to Auburn. So, yeah, where is this place? Do they charge if you drool on the floor? RASHY
[ QUOTE ] Do they charge if you drool on the floor? [/ QUOTE ] No but they did kinda look at me like I was a tourist with the camera and the bulge in my pants. It's Austin's pro Max in Tacoma, They have a covered area with about twenty or thirty muscle cars, inventory is always changing, but mostly '60's stuff. I was shopping for a fuel pump, the guy asked how many HP and I felt small saying about five fifty, the other guy was on the phone talking 18 hundred horse blown alcohol... Gracie, I think it's fussia but I was too shy to ask. Paul
I think its just cast aluminum color and 60's style was wearing his pink shirt when he took the picture - your seeing his reflection
[ QUOTE ] Why would anyone paint an engine, even a 4 banger, lavender? That is lavender isn't it? Or is it lilac? WTF? [/ QUOTE ] More of a magenta
but seriously, the four banger was bare aluminum, they were busy as usual so I just got what I was after and got out of there, not knowing any better, it looks like an Ardun head on an Offy block??
I lived in Tacoma and did the same thing you did..., "Drool on the floor with my camera in my hand"..., forgot all about that place...! They have "Mountain Crate motors" in stock if I'm not mistaken!!! Thanks for reminding me to find those photo's!!! Mark
Hey Tyler, you know of a speed shop in Fed? I can't remember the name... Now it's bugging me, may have to GOOGLE or I won't sleep tonight. RASHY
"The Legend" looks a lot like an old Joe Shubeck fuel dragster I tried to buy a few years ago. Any info on that one ?
We used to have a couple shelves in one of the parts place/machine shops here for dead stuff. Had to stop and see what destruction had happened every week. They had rods twisted and broken, chunks of engine blocks, broken cranks, exploded blowers, leftover broken pieces from clutch explosions, lots of interesting stuff. Tended to make you pay a little more attention next time you built something and I think that's what the machine shop/ parts store intended.
Paul That in the South Tacoma Chevy building? Also tell Rashy that the speed shop in F-way was a moon lightin pharmacist.......white pills with crosses! Ha Ha
Hey! I quit white crosses when I switched over to ACID. AHHHHHH, Those were the days..... I think? Dammit, now I gotta Google. RASHY
Could it be "Genuine" Is there such a beast on Federal Highway? Oh this head of mine. RASHY
Was the one in federal way called honest performance. I grew up there and bought alot of parts from them when in high school
[ QUOTE ] Was the one in federal way called honest performance. I grew up there and bought alot of parts from them when in high school [/ QUOTE ] Hell yeah!!!! That was IT!!! Genuine, Honest, it's all the same!!! Pretty good shop, I like the ones that carry used stuff. Another good speed shop I have been to is Borchardt's(sp?) in Milwaukee. That dude was making me deals like crazy. Got a set of Sanderson Cast block hugger headers for $125. Bought a Eddie carb that needed rebuilt for $100. and wanted a rebuild kit but he was out. He told me he had the individual pieces but didn't want to sell them like that. He said he needed to check with the guy the carb belonged to and see if he would take $100. as it was marked $125. I told him I would go eat and come back later to see what he found out. When I got back he had rebuilt it, dipped and all. Sold it for $100. RASHY

[/ QUOTE ] A freind of mine here in Michigan owned the "Legend" a year or two ago, he moved out to the southwest about a year ago. Don't know if he sold the car or not. He was trying to find some history on it, don't know if he had any success. He had the racing icons he met sign the body, last time I saw the car it had been signed by Shirley Muldowny. Oldtin
