Somehow I have been missing this build thread but Man, have you really made some progress in a short period of time ! :D Your hot rod is really shaping up nicely, I love the look of it.

One thing you might think about, if you haven't already, is get that stock Model a middle crossmember out of there and make either an X member or a K member to take away some of the tendency of the A frame to twist . With the torque of a BBC even a boxed frame will want to twist unless you put more crossmembers in there to keep it rigid. On a fordor it is even more important to do that or doors will want to pop open and stuff like that.

Just thought I would mention that before you get too far along.

  6. you say you are going to try to get the gas tank behind the rear, under the car. that's my plan also, I'm going to build the floor with a step in it from the rear cross member back to the rear of the body. this will suport the rear seat and I hope it will leave enough room for a tank under the floor.

My car is a '30 tudor sedan. can't wait to see what you come up with.

mine won't fit cause the body curves in some... :(

  8. The Tudor rear body also curves inward, but if I step the floor up at the rear crossmember "hump" and contune that reward there may be enough room for a 10-12 gal tank.( i hope) If this can't work for you, what is your plan? I'm just look ing for more ideas.

I did that, but the floor isn't high enough to clear the curvature of the body for me. let me see if i can find my tank dimensions.

  11. I also will have to build my own tank.

I just bought my own 1930 Fordor and will read your post with great interest. Mine will get a late 30's treatment, probably with a hopped up 4-banger. Thanks for all the pictures - keep up the good work!
