I will have to hook up with ya this week. Josh said something about the bottle earlier in the week but I wasn't sure. We will get together soon.

    PS
Im already hooking my little 100 up for gas welding, All I need is a bottle now. I have the kit installed and the wire, all picked up at a yard sale Saturday after noon. I got a big roll of #30 with the kit for $25.00. Good deal.

Ive been keeping up w this build from day one, You and your family and friends have done an outstanding job on the Hot Rod, Congrats. I have a 31 chevy sedan and i have learned alot from your build, Keep up the good work and good times friend!

  3. Carl - thanks for your compliments! I've owned my hot rod for 16 years now, so I've changed the look a few times... My favorite has to be when I went GASSER style - jacked up straight axle with 0 drop, '32 Ford truck grille with huge iron cross painted on a mesh insert and of coarse, the killer 6-two Holley 94 setup! I also had header muffler baffles welded in to make it seem like I was runnin' open headers!!

My '31 remains dormant until I can invest some serious cash to strengthen my original C style chassis. I'm planning on "step boxing" the rails with 1" square tubing in the upper and lower parts and welding a plate to finish the boxing toward the rear. I'm also on the hunt to find an original center x-member from a '36 to '40 Ford and modifying it to fit as well to really make her strong enough to handle a possible 800 horse and beyond blown hemi! Spread the word to all of your hot rod buddies in your area to help locate this center x-member for me - APPRECIATE THIS GREATLY!!

And yes, when my ride is done, I will cruise over to your hometown and hopefully arrange your buddies to cruise with us as well!!

Well we are still working on the motor, its back from the machine shop and ready to get built. All that is lacking is the heads. I hope we have time to put the short block together this week. It will be a tire smoker soon.

In the off hrs some play time was called for so we cleaned up the back 40 and preped for a fire. Here are some pictures of the other parts of the car. Now this was fun. What else am I going to do with them.

  6. That's funny right there.

  7. Carl, your project is coming along very well, and is inspiring to all of us, especially the "Bowtie Brigade".
This picture is what Hot rodding is all about, hanging out with fellow hot rodders, enjoying good times together after driving together.:D I'd take this over any car show, any day.

Just read the whole thread! Hell of a build man! I had a 33 Chevy 3 window a while back and boy do I miss that car. That Debby sounds like a keeper. I have mine working on our 34 tudor all the time. Hell even the kids join in. Keep it going.

Looks like a little drinking and driving, and you drove it right into the ground. Good friends and family and good times:)

Thanks for looking and enjoying the site. It's been a blast and just getting better. The motor will be done in a few weeks. (I hope!)

That's a nice looking ride you have there. Its good to see the whole gang hanging out and chipping in. One day the boy is going to want to drive it, You ready? I checked out your site, Looks like some really cool stuff your into. I would think they could get pricey. I need to join up so I can see more. Keep it rolling

Thanks for the kind words. I can't wait till I'm at the point where I can drive it. It's been 12 long years since I sold my 33. It feels real good to get my feet wet again. I have a few years left before my daughter starts driving. At that point I will have to send out notices to all the neighbors to stay off the roads & side walks.:D Haven't done much with the models lately. Too busy building the real thing. The real thing is getting expensive for sure. When you get her up & running again you should do a video from the inside and take us all for a ride. Till then keep it between the ditches.

How about this, The block is back and bored 30 over, new flat top pistons, cam with matching springs, keepers and tapits along with solid lifters. I have new pushrods that will stay new since my HP man says they have to go, Josh says I need the heavy duty ones, Josh is talking with a supplier for the 64cc alum heads and I hope to have them on order next week. This will bring the the compression to 10.1. The crank has been ground and polished, I have prepped the block of all casting marks and taped out all the bolt holes so that the torque is correct when complete. Josh did the homework and found a online dyno sheet that has similar components as my motor. We are hoping to hit the 375 HP mark or better with the alum heads.

My buddy Brad is going to build the short block and Josh is going to take it from the heads to the carb. Im trying to keep up but my motor skills and cash flow just can't do it. There is still a list of parts that Josh says I need so I better make some cash quick since the dead line is Dec 23rd when Jeff comes in town.

Carl, Don't forget to add the zinc oil additive. My buddy lost the cam and crank in a rebuilt 340 within 1200 miles. (zinc was not added).

Coupe is looking awesome. Good luck finishing the build!

This morning I got up and started the last of the prep work before we start assembling the motor, The block was cleaned and Brad came by and put the bottom end together, I did my part by doing what I was told, I guess that's how it is supposed to work? Now its time to work on the top-end.

The motor build is moving on daily,
I bought some new 64cc aluminum heads and a whole lot of other parts this week so the plan for this weekend was working on the heads. They were bare bone heads. We bought all new valves, springs, retainers, keepers studs and the list goes on and on so that these things will kick some ass. Friday night I seated the valves, Saturday went to Summit and picked up a porting kit. Sat night the gang came over and we started porting and polishing. This was a lot of work, the machine work was not a big deal but the hand sanding and polishing wore me out, a few red bulls and a beer or two was the ticket today. They are all cleaned up and ready for the valves to be installed.

Port & Polish is Free HP Josh says ;)

Getting closer, valves are done, just the bolt on's now and some break in time. Saturday may be the day. Thanks to the help of some good friends.
