On another note, My wife Debby has been a great wife of 20 years and lets me do the hot rod stuff. So to keep her self busy when I'm in the shop she has been collecting Schwinns. Deb has even taken on restoring them so she now has a shop in the basement, We are at about 10 Schwinns and growing. She even sells them to get them back into circulation so that others can enjoy them. We went to a bike show 2 weeks ago and she won 1st place in the Muscle bike AND survivor categories.

  2. Awesome Carl! Love the bikes! You will dig the line lock. If you don't have a rev limiter, go easy in the water box up there at Paradise. All the noise and stuff going on, it can get wound up real fast. Have fun up there. You can borrow my helmet if you don't find one.

Carl, man, I am really sorry to see this. This sucks, but you seam to be taking it alot better than I would. That motor sounded sweet and it was fun watching. I know the way you work you'll be up and running in no time. Good luck!

  19. The roller lifters will roll out of the window in the block more readily, thus getting out if the way of the other exploding parts, saving both time and money.

I had some shit going on but I'm back with the post. It was a great day until I raced his race instead of my race. I was turning high 7s in the 1/8th mile and everything was going good till I forgot to shift into 3rd and hit the 7 or 8 K mark It was all down hill from there. We did have a good time after that hanging and making jokes. I think everybody at the track came by and took pictures looking throgh the block. Im in the works of gathering up so cas to get back in the game.

Check out the last two shots as they are videos and not pictures.

Here are some pics of the damage. It sucks but I guess the good thing is the next one will be bigger and badder. There goes that fresh racing oil I just put in. The heads seam to be reusable with some new valves and a good check out at the machine shop.

Sunday it took a wile to go to the bad place where the car was resting licking her wounds. Here are the findings with the heads off.

I have a few irons in the fire since then and I'm thinking deep down I need to go bigger. The drive train will need to be refitted with some heaver gear but that I'm thinking could come later. I'm thinking stroker. How big not sure but as Josh says I will change my mind 50 times before I pull the trigger. He is getting to know me to well. If I don't want to get stomped like I did racing Josh I'm going to have to do something.

Enough of the steel work and motors. Dad is in town to help out with putting some wood back in the old Chevy. Dad is 81 years old and spends his time building rustic furniture in North Carolina. Makes a pretty good living at it I wall say. He brought all the wood down with him to do the doors. Red Oak is what we are using. I wish I had better tools to work with but we are doing Ok. So this is what we got done today, both doors have the wood cut and ready to tie all together. Some pieces were glued and will be ready to install tomorrow. This is something I wanted to do with him to make sure he got to do what he does best. Mom even got to hang out and spend some time in the garage today.

Tomorrow we should be-able to sand and clean up all the edges with a router and then put it all together.

Mom and Dad are heading home to NC this morning. It was great to have them here again. I wish they could stay longer. We finished up with all the door trim out yesterday eccept for just a few small pieces that we didn't have time to make but in all, the doors are at 95% complete now. They are solid and shut nice. I will clean up the hardware and paint it black to match the dash.

Looks like a defective block and oilpan to me, Carl. Sorry about your motor, man.
PS: Can I bring my '32 Chevy over for you and your dad to do some wood work?
