Tony I did find my sunglasses, they were in the sink in the buss, I guess that late night party stuff makes you forget , I guess we need to patch that floor up anyway. We need a dam metal brake, that bending on a vice and beating with a hammer sucks. Maybe we can make one? I was looking at plans on the net and it looks pretty simple.
Carl, Glad you found your glasses! We could use a brake, but you know Joe V. has a nice one and always lets us use it. His place is real close to you. But nothing beats having the tools in the shop.
I'm having fun this week. I installed a Pertronix Electronic Ignition last night and it runs much better. No more points and no more miss firing. Good stuff. I started building the wiring harness tonight. It's killing my brain to think so hard. Thanks to the HAMB, I found some sweet simple diagrams to follow. I guess this is one thing I won't rush into. My dead line is Friday 6pm so I can cruse Friday night after dark. No more having to be home before dark. I'm also going to do a compression test on the motor and the headers were removed and painted tonight also with that Killer 2000 degrees paint that Tudor turned me on to. Thanks bud. I hated the rust that was forming on them. Got to go, I have work to get done.
32 Hudson Here is the paint you asked for. I picked it up at Advanced. $10.00 a can and I was able to do 2.5 coats on each header. you may want to get two cans. Make sure you read the directions. they are very detailed if you want it to work and last.
Josh came by and helped me put the headers back on tonight. He said that this paint kicks ass and its easy to touch up. The wiring is moving on pretty good, its all run from the cab to the back of the car and all tied up clean and crisp. The headlights are wired up into the cab. Tomorrow night Deb and I will tie in the fuse panel, switches and tail lights. Thats when the real fun starts. It should be nice and clean when done.
Man that was easy! yeah man - as long as your timing ain't retarded that paint will hold a nice coat. Rock on man. I saw what you said about my Pops. Cools Stuff Carl. He was impressed. You're the man man! Keep on keepin on. All these guys that can't believe what you've done just need to DO IT!!!!
Deb Keep looking, you’ll find that dam wire yet with the 4 dots and 1 stripe. It’s always a good day when Deb is helping in the garage. She keeps me from doing things 3-4 times. I still have to do things at least twice just so I can practice.
I have been playing a bit now that the car is together. Now that the wiring harness is in it's like having a real car. Just open the garage, jump in and go. Now that is cool Tomorrow will be 1 year since I bought the car. Its been a great build and I have have had so much help from my friends and family. Thanks to all of you! Here is the coolest sun set Deb and I have seen in some time.
Well is it play time or work time? I still have lots to do and the weather is about to change. How about one more ride before I break it down again. What is on the table next? It wont be cheep I can tell ya that but 1st lets take one more kicking ass Saturday ride after the swap meet. Man we had lots of fun Saturday and for me it was the1st time I got to ride with other hot rods. All you guys in the SFCC Rock Man!!!
Nice picture dude - That was a great ride. You were flying, can't wait to see some shots of the motor out -
Good question Dag-Patch We took the motor out Sunday afternoon and drank FREE BEER all day. Now that is the way to work it. It was found that the heads are trash, the cam is stock and the cylinders are in need of a bore. So a complete rebuild is in order. I will build it as big as my wallet will let me. I guess a nice mid size 350 is in store for the 31. Josh says go big so I'm going to do all I can. Donations will be accepted, LOL . Debby took it to the machine shop yesterday so I'm waiting to hear back from them on what the cost of repairs will be along with all the new parts. I guess I can work on the steel work around the shop since I never finished that while the work to the block is being done.
Fixed both back windows and the drives door tonight. The drivers door shuts nice. tomorrow will be the passenger door.
Hey Carl! Just read the entire thread from start to finish, once I realized you and I have the same car! When I first looked at your avatar from another thread, I couldn't tell what style coupe you had... Great job man! You put some smiles on my face after checkin' out your videos! Once I get mine finally finished (mine will be Chrysler 392 blown hemi powered), I'm dropping by to DEMAND that we cruise your streets together!!! Subscribed!!!
Cool ride Mike. I'm glad you enjoyed the thread, Its cool sharing the fun times. So is that how it looks today? The paint on the motor looks pretty rad. I love the wheels and tires. So when you come to Ga let me know and will hit the road and rip up the pavement.
Great weekend, Hung out with Tudor Friday night and worked on the Digger's rear-end, Saturday I hung out with the SFCC gang at Tony's and picked up a killer welder to use so that I could finish up the chop on the 31. Man now let me tall ya that going from Flux-Core wire to gas welding is a huge difference. Thanks to Josh for looking out for me by hooking me up with Tony and his welder, Tony was generous enough to let me borrow his welder and this thing works great. I worked on the chop all day yesterday and a little today I got most of the welding done. I worked on the doors again and adjusted the hinges but I still have the door panels and the trunk area to finish. I hope to be done with all that this week. I hope to here from the machine shop tomorrow about the motor. I know it needs a bore and who knows what else. Good news is always good so keep your fingers crossed. I hope that the block doesn't need to much work.
Looking good Carl! Glad you are enjoying the welder. I didn't think about swapping the wire at the time. I think Josh said it has 35 in it. Some 22 would be even easier for sheet metal. But you are the man! Hey man thanks for hauling the front end over for the 48. And you left your jar on the work bench It was supposed to be Josh's jar but he can be down right unfriendly on that stuff.
Here is my first rod from the early 60's. A `32 Chevy coupe, 283 Chevy, close ratio transmission Pontiac rear end. Good luck with your project, you're off to a great start. Bud Reynolds
