I guess everyone is a little bored with all my exhaust pics. (but who doesn't like pics) This should be the last of them.

I finished up all the welding, and smoothing all of the weld joints and installing the hanger brackets.
    IMG_3638.JPG

This shows the hanger brackets. I probably went over kill on the brackets for the muffler.
    IMG_3639.JPG

The tail pipes are ended at the rear axle because I haven't figured out the fuel tank location yet.
    IMG_3640.JPG

The last picture of the exhaust ( I promise )

    Thanks,

Thanks, like the 33, the shop is still a work in progress. I figured out that putting everything on wheels helps on keepinng the center of the shop clear for a larger work space.

Have a little more done to the 33.

I did a minor refresh to the out side of the TH350 trans.
    Before Pic.
    IMG_3449.JPG

    After pic.
I pulled the pan and the inside look real clean, so I decided to work on the outside case, rebuild later if needed.
Cleaned up the outer case, front and rear seals, modulator valve, speedometer drive, and a new oil pan with a drain plug.
    IMG_3642.JPG

Under side with new oil pan.
    IMG_3644.JPG

Put the body back on the frame to set the radiator grill shell for the support rods.
    IMG_3648.JPG

    IMG_3647.JPG

Had the radiator cleaned out and all leaks fixed and mounted along with the trans cooler.
    IMG_3646.JPG

Next step get the radiator grill support rods and new fan. It has a 17" and needs a 15" or 14" for the fan shroud I plan to build for the radiator.

That tranny looks brand new. What products & cleaning steps to get it looking so good? Is it painted now or clear coated? Mine always have corrosion from salt on winter roads then tons of grease & dirt

  11. I used an aluminum cake pan to make my radiator shroud for my 33. DSC02316.JPG DSC02317.JPG

I used a 4" grinder with a small wire wheel (be sure to use a full face sheild) then a hand held drill with small rotary wire brushs to get into the real small places. It didn't get all of the old paint off, but it did get enough to repaint. Then I wiped it down with paint thinner before paint.
    IMG_3652.JPG

I used "Aluma Blast" on the outer case, then let the tranny sit out in the sun light, rotating every couple of hours, then set overnight.
The next mor'n I sprayed about three coats of clear over the "Aluma Blast" (this actually brought out a slite metal flake look to the finish) then put out in the sun light as before.
Then waited about 24 hours before I mated it to the engine.
    IMG_3656.JPG

To move it around the shop and out into the sunlight, I made this roll around skid.
That way I didn't need to man handle the tranny while the paint was still wet.

That really looks good for a cake pan, great job.

I have access to a plasma burning table, so I model'd up a shroud in 3D.
Here is a rendering of the 3D model in sheet metal, so all I need to do is click the flatten Icon and it gives me the flat pattern...I guess that's kinda cheating.

One more project done on the 33.
Fab up the radiator shell support rods, yes mine was totaly missing, no holes or brackets.
I though I could order a rod support kit for a 33/34 ford and make it work...no...the only part that I could use was the support rods. now the fabracation begins.

The firewall bracket for the Ford was darn near flat and wasn't going to work for the angle that was needed for my install. Not showned in the pic, the bracket is gusseted on the bottom.
    IMG_3658.JPG

The radiator bracket was again MIA, and after looking at other cars at
car shows this is what I came up with.
    IMG_3659.JPG

The hood hinge pin bracket on the firewall was also missing, the threaded holes were there. Again bracket made...Litte brackets are so teadious to make.
    IMG_3660.JPG

Back side of bracket closed off
    IMG_3661.JPG

I now have a functioning hood and a radiator grill shell secured to the body.

I decided to do a little priming while wating on parts.
This is about 50% done, the passenger side still needs to be primed.
    IMG_3663.JPG

Had the dash in storage/attic and got it out for a test fit. No gauge pannel, will wait until I get my gauges before I make that part.
    IMG_3664.JPG

Better view of my blank floor board canvas.
    IMG_3666.JPG

The view of the metal work on the rear floor board. Still a lot of work to do back here, but my main objective is to get the powder rust under control.

The "33" is finally starting to look like a Hot rod.

    Early mor'n shot
    IMG_3670.JPG

    A closer shot.
    IMG_3671.JPG

A few more parts added to the engine, still waiting on more to come in. Not a fan of the chrome, but it was the parts that came with the purchase. It can always be changed out later.

Here's the start of the radiator fan shroud.

I had to refine my 3D model to show the bend marks to get the flat pattern to come out right.
And my newly fab'd steel work table.
    IMG_3677.JPG

Made a card board templete to make sure the pattern was some what close. This is just half of the shroud.
    IMG_3678.JPG

And another shot of the radiator shell support bracket, the last post on this project didn't show a clear shot of it.

    Fan shroud fun begians.

I would have loved to do this out of 20/Ga but, my supplier here only could get 16/Ga.
My bender was maxed out at 17/Ga at 30", so these short parts just did the job.
    IMG_3680.JPG

After doing this one part I called it a day. This is one quater of the shroud, three more to do.

Looking good! I may have asked already but what’s the wheels base on the car?

    Got the fan shroud formed.

Right side is the bottom and the left side top. The fan isn't to far off from being centered in the radiator, but the shroud should draw enough air to keep the engine cool.
    IMG_3684.JPG

    View of the top side.
    IMG_3685.JPG

I added a 1/2" lip to the bottom of the shroud for attaching mounting brackets, and give it a little more sitffiness, and it helps to be tack welded to the table for welding. The lip will also have a small black silicone tube edging to cushion it against the radiator
    IMG_3686.JPG

Here's a shot of my high dollor manual press break, It's a far cry form the 300ton I used to work with when I was a lot younger.

Finally finished up the welding and cleaning the surface of the fan shroud.

Test fit for fan clearance with duct tape mounting brackets. I do believe I'll change out the fan spacer from a 1"
    to a 1/2".
    IMG_3688.JPG

This fan has such a deep bent in the blades that they hit the crank pullys without a spacer.
    IMG_3689.JPG

Now make mounting bracket for shroud and this part of the puzzle will be done

It's been raining here for the last 5 or so days and had to pull off priming the radiator shell parts, so I worked on getting my air compressor on wheels. It's the last big item that was not on wheels.

I did manage to get the 33 in the pic to keep it build thread related. It actually rolls around real easy.
    IMG_3696.JPG

I wanted it on wheels cause I plan on doing some sand blasting and I want the compressor close to an out side door. To minimize the length of the large hose for the blast pot and to keep the sand out of the shop.
    IMG_3697.JPG

Colse up of the off set to keep the roll cart low to the ground.

For the best vacuum through the Radiator blade should be 1/3 in and 2/3 out.

Noted...I did change the fan spacer from 1" to 1/2" and the radiator grill shell has adjustable mounts to move the shell vertical and horizonal, so hopefully I'll be able to fine tune the depth of the fan to the shroud.

The weather finally was dry and warm.

I got all the unnecessuary holes in the grill shell filled up, including the original center radiator cap hole.
    IMG_3701.JPG

I was able to get grill shell adjusted up/down and in/out to get the fan shroud centered around the fan.
    IMG_3702.JPG

    IMG_3703.JPG

Here's the bracket that makes that happen.
    IMG_3707.JPG

The shell still needs some filler to get it smooth, but not bad for a 90 year old steel.
    IMG_3704.JPG

Here's a full view of my 33/34 Ford radiator support rods...only the rods, everything else was custom made.
    IMG_3705.JPG

And last, a frontal shot. The radiator grill is being powder coated chrome, I guess we'll see how this works out.
