So I picked this car up from the original family owners. It had been sitting since 1968 until I drug it out a couple years ago now. I'm pretty pumped where it's at right now! It's been a slow process since I'm 21 and in college. I'm going for a 50s period custom. Anyone have any pictures of chopped club coupes? I haven't been able to find any anywhere really. And I'm not sure if that would be absurdly period correct to do either. IMO you cannot improve the look of a 49-51 Club Coupe by chopping. Your car is perfectly proportioned now. Nice ride.

55Brodie. Yeah it does look nice with stock lines. I may have to find another car to chop down the road instead of this one!

  7. I have seen them sectioned, I am not aware if I have seen a chopped coupe but that doesn't mean that someone didn't do it.

Personally, I like the coupe's roofline unaltered. Same goes for the chevy models of the same years.

Looking good, I was sorta hoping you'd have kept the straight six (we didn't get those in the Fords up here). Makes me miss my sedan

these are my two favorite chopped coupes. I snagged the pics from the custom car chronicle website.

Only problem with chopping a coupe is you can't haul any adults in the back seat! LOL just small kids or midgets!

Here's some pics I've collected.... Personally I'm on the fence btwn a mild chop or just slammed to the ground.

That's where I'm at too, but after looking at these photos, I'm thinking of doing a mild chop and air ride now. Other than air ride, everything will be done as period as I can get it! Thanks for all the pictures and Input guys! Hopefully this winter I'll get a little more done

As said you really cannot improve the looks of these cars by chopping.
Also there's the whole other image of the 49-50 Fords. The performance image..the moonshine blockader/nascar image or legend.
I'll give you 2 reasons why you don't see many chopped today.

    1. While not a really rare car the coupes are defiantly not common. Folks tend to hold on to them. There is a certain mystique about them. Chopping one tends to take that away in a sense.
    2. Say you do chop one....[IMG]

I think I'll continue to build the car and have it basically finished with out a chop and see how I like it and drive it for a year or so unchopped before making a final decision.
