cant disagree about the flow comments, but i think you could get away w/ it if you lenghten the doors, after all it looks like a super nice finish.

Well said, but in my opinion it looks great for your first go at it! Good job!

I agree with others, too big out back. Do like chopping a top, move it forward, thin the rear out, flow it into the trunk. But as I said on another thread, with what you started with, this car friggin rules. You did an outstanding job with the car. Rock on!

How is it mounted to the car?

  7. You talked about the next one. So what do you mean? The next one on this car or the next one on the next car? I think you need to pull the material off this one and rework it some. It doesn't flow well. The back crown needs to come down some and the rear window needs to be wider.. You want it to not look like a fourdoor I assume? Chalk it up as experience.

  8. warren babcock, what materials did you use. EMT size, chicken wire or hardware cloth?, felt matting, what weight?, canvas material, what weight?, sources for your material? Nice job, I bet it was better than 99% of the other guy's first try at it.......

  9. If I was to use a 4dr/2dr conversion I would use a top like this....

I love carson tops! your car is looking great. Have you thought about stretching the doors? I think if you did it would really complete the car. Right now it looks like a four door with the rear doors welded shut. I think a 4 or 5 inch stretch would really class it up. IMHO

The top weighs about 65 pounds all together with all the material. I started with conduit and then went with little 1/2 chicken wire.. I first put all the padding like in the hot rod magazine add, but then it started to get heavy ,so I went with some foam stuff from a SAP foam store in San Jose. After trimming the foam which was a Bit^*&,, I then put one layer of some kind of foam from my buddy's upholstery shop, he then started to sew the darn thing together... And what I mean by next top is I will take this one apart and rework it to give it more flow as you would say.. I have never chopped a car or anything close this was my first attempt to do some crazy stuff to a car.. It was a lot of fun to cut the roof off.. You men have been wonderful to comment on the Buick. I really appreciate the input.. I have been drawing plans with photoshop to try and get some flow. it's not been easy. it's a lot harder on the puter than doing it on the car for some reason.. Thanks Guys...

  13. I use an electric carving knife to cut foam....works great.
