Projects **** My first Custom '54 Ford Victoria Build Thread ****

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by daddy_o's_diner, Jan 14, 2010.

  1. General,

They are '54 Mercury spears. Pretty common modification for the Fords back in the day.

My Vicky will have the same treatment - at least I think it's the same - using '53-'54 Merc spears. These are available in reproduction (evilBay) so availability is not a problem. It's a classic treatment that just gets better with time.

very nice. hope my 53 turns out half as nice.

  5. I am the same exact way, as soon as I finish a car maybe two-three months go by and then it's up for sale and I'm out hunting for the next project..I think I enjoy gathering parts and working on the car more than I do driving it and showing it

  6. Ya, I love the chase (of finding the car) and the build.

I pretty sure the car will be up for sale very soon. I have a line on a '34 Ford 5-window I'm going to take a run at.

I've had some interest in the car already - so I'm confident it will sell quickly.

What an ispirational build, I really need to turn my sows ear into a silk purse for sure. daddy_o, if you got some free time, a step by step run down on the headlight treatment would be completely helpful.

  20. Car is up for sale in the classifieds

  21. update: finished up the interior and am taking the car to Detroit Autorama. I'll be in the basement. Stop by and say "Hi" if your going.

Took it out for a ride today. Gonna miss the thing when it's gone, but can't wait to get the '34 back together and to get started on the '32.

It's sure going to make a nice candidate for the Detroit Autorama Extreme "Artist's Alley" Next year!!! Each year the artist's pick a cool car to do an art piece on. (Drawing, painting, sculpture etc.) We auction them off upstairs with the Mavens. The money goes to Leader Dogs! This year we did the Little Honker.

Nice pics!!! I love those old Fords!

  28. Here are a few pics of the car from last weekend and the Detroit Autorama Extreme. It was proudly displayed right next to "Big Olds" in the Singlefinger Speedshop display. The car won the Oustanding Tradtional Custom Award at the show.

The most exciting thing that happened is what Ed Tillrock mentioned above. This car was chosen as the "art car" for next years show. From my understanding that means that all of the artists at next years show will be doing an original artwork of this car to be auctioned off up stairs next year. Most of the artists this year were also selling prints of the art car downstairs - some even had T-shirts!!! How cool is that?

I am truly honored to have these artists take their time to draw/paint/sculpt, etc... this car. If I'm correct, this years particpants included Ed Tillrock, Norwell, Weezner, Todd Jones, Design 165 and several other VERY TALENTED artists. Mark Weaver fron Weaverville Studios has told me he will be doing a drawing as well. Unbelievable!!! I want to thank everyone involved, the organizers and the artists, in the Artists Alley program. This will definatetly go down as a highpoint in my automotive life.

Afterthought: Some may wonder why the car is for sale and think I'm cashing in on this. I can assure you that this is not the case. The car was for sale before being chosen for this honor. I must say that this has me strongly reconsidering the sale. I truly wish I could keep it at least one more year, however, I need to sell this to fund the building of a Deuce 5-window I just purchased. Tough decision

Wow, gorgeous Ford you got there. Just the right amount of customizing. A lil' bit of frenching and shaving is all you need.
