Motion Pictures My first Hot Rod

You guys took a lot of people back to their first hot rod. You got extra points for photos.

 

What a great story Stan ... took me back to my first car ( '40 Ford in a cornfield) story and time.

Rob, you will like this one, in '63 at the same time I started on this T, I was enthralled by the 36 Willys pickup Wayne Harry and Bill Lewis raced with a blown Olds. An older kid in school had a 35 Willys sedan, that had been cut into a pickup, and he wanted 6 dollars for it. So I gave him 3 dollars down, and paid the rest in a couple weeks. After school a couple of my friends (part of our hot rod club in the 9th grade) went to push it to my place, a couple miles away. Well we got about a half mile, before the left front tire went flat. We figured, if we went back with a tire pump, we could get it part way home, and all the way in a couple evenings. When I got off the school bus at home the next afternoon, it was sitting in the yard. My brother Dave, who lived 35 miles away, came home to visit Mom, and she told him roughly where the truck was, and he towed it home for me. My brother Tom, mounted a lawn mower gas tank on the firewall and got it running. I ended up selling it for 20 bucks !
