Just picked up my first low rider, was supposedly done in the 70’s and supposedly Hines chopped the roof and the doors. The last old pics is what Anthony white sent me which looks like it could be the same car but can’t confirm it since there is some changes. But it’s chopped they reversed all the hinges, hood, trunk, doors. Has hydraulics, and the doors are shaved as well. For now just get er driving up and down the road properly but def would luv to freshen up the paint and body work
That's what I was thinking. This one is really well thought out and looks good. The level of skill it takes not just to do this, but to also make it look "right", is very, very high. If it really is Bill Hines' work, that adds a cool bit of history to it. But even if it's not, it was done by someone who knew what they were doing.
I like it! But I'm trying to figure out why someone would reverse the hinges on the trunk. Because you could? Next -- the glove compartment door!
I guessing for display purposes, kinda goes with the reverse hood and doors, but ya I could of done with out it but don’t mind it either but on paper I guess it makes sense
One of the first things I noticed was the trunk lid too. Then realized that’s not just a lowrider. It’s a custom so yes. Danged work of art it is!
very very cool. This reminded me of a 65 impala with a chop top i stumbled across at a Pick-A-Part about 30 years ago. it was white and most the trim had been stripped off along with wheels and motor/trans, the paint was very faded and if memory serves me right it had some candy blue scallops or panels, also faded . I wondered what that car woulda looked like in its prime. as things go at pick-a-part it was gone by the next time I returned . I always assumed it was some late 60's /70's build .
Love it. I've always been a fan of the "late model" customs. A friend had a '65 with those flat taillight lenses in it & they were super cool, but are so close to the bulb, the get too hot & warp. Find or make some of those, add new LED bulbs, and you're golden.
